A different Aussie Touring car, I got from Ebay the other day :- ![]() The car is from SCX in Spain and was one of their second series SRS cars....Unusual in that the model depicts the Brock car from 1994 Bathurst 12 hour race. The SRS cars had a very advanced chassis for their time, (a little like a fore-runner to the Slot.it HRS), and were considered to be pretty good race cars, unfortunatly the front steering unit on mine was broken beyond repair so I decided to fit a solid axle and non-steerable wheels :- ![]() Easy enough to do, with a steady hand, just fix the tilting central beam with two part epoxy and then drill through the axle back plates and central beam, pass the axle through and fix the original wheels. I fitted "new compound" Ortmans to the rears and performance is now really good. ![]()
A long time since I've added anything to this Blog so I thought I would show what cars have been constructed since the last entry:- ![]() A scalextric Escort shell fitted with a MRRC Sebring chassis. ![]() An OCAR resin Ford Anglia shell with PCS32 chassis. ![]() A resin "Long Nose" D Type Jaguar fitted with scratchbuilt PCB chassis. ![]() An updated Scalextric Tyrell shell mounted onto a modified Scalextric M23 chassis. ![]() A NSR "White Kit" Porsche 917 fitted with suspension units and 25K King motor. My entry for the 2011 CanAm Proxy Series. ![]() A Bob Jane Camaro from a Hornby kit with HRS2 chassis. ![]() A much modified Scalextric BRM shell fitted to a new M23 shortened chassis. ![]() A RMS resin shell Ferrari 612P CanAm fitted to a modified Scalextric Chaparral 2F chassis. ![]() A ACME fibreglass C Type Jaguar shell fitted with modified EJ Hobies brass chassis. ![]() An Aurora Jaguar XK120 shell fitted with a Penelope Pitlane brass Sidewinder chassis. Just about up to date now. Currenly working on a BRM P160E, Ferrari 342 America and a NASCAR Dodge Daytona.
Just finished my two car entry for the Race Across America Proxy Series. There are three possible classes to enter GT!, GT2 and LMP. My Entries are a NSR Mosler with Slot.it Orange Can motor for GT1 and a Slot.it Audi with Scaleauto Black Can for LMP. As this is an American Series both cars run on Slot.it S2 Silicone rear tyres. ![]()
Finished a few new cars :- ![]() OCAR Porsche 550 Coupe on PCS32 chassis. ![]() Riley and Scott MkIII finished as the Daytona winng car. This is a OCAR shell mounted onto a Fly Joest Porsche chassis from the new Fly "starter" cars range. I've also sent off my entries to this years International Proxy series and the new Touring car Series. This is the second year of the IPS and I will once again host one of the UK rounds. My car is a Ferrari 250 "Breadvan"...the car must be powered by a Ninco NC1 or similar motor and run on Ninco 7mm wide classic tyres. My car for the Touring car Proxy is a Scalextric Vectra, kitted out with all Slot.it parts I have also decided to enter the Race Across America Proxy Series, my entries will be GT1 NSR Mosler and LMP Slot.it Audi .....Work is ongoing on these. I also put together a metal Burago kit of 1/18th scale Aston Martin Vantage for a change...I love building these big kits, they have such a solid feel to them. I'm also building a OCAR Broadspeed Anglia. The 105E was my first car, so I'm enjoying building this car.
Not posted for a while, but got these finished this wekk :- ![]() OCAR Spa Magnum - PCS32, Scalex motor, Slot.it running gear and SCC wheels with OCAR inserts, Ortmans on the rear. ![]() MMK Cortina MKII - PCS32, Scalex motor, Slot.it running gear, FPF Wheels and inserts, Ortman rears. Currently working on a OCAR Porsche 550 and OCAR Riley and Scott LMP.
Completed the Vauxhall Magnum today.....Very fine shell and superb decals from OCAR...Lots of detail painting required by hand but I'mpleased with the result. Clear coat and photo's tomorrow. Still awaiting delivery from Pendle of some bits and pieces, unlike them to take longer than a day. I won a Porsche 928 resin shell on Ebay, not sure what to do with it, although I did find some photo's of the real car kitted out for racing and another photo of one geared up for GT racing, complete with rear spoiler...should make an interesting model. Did a little work on the MMK Ford Cortina, completed the chassis with FF models new 13" wheels and tyres, and fitted the chassis to the shell.
Very dissapointed with the test running of the PCS 32 chassis using OCAR wheels etc that was to be fitted to the Porsche 550 Coupe, sounded rough due to the crown and the wheels were very "out of round" , so I stripped it down and decised to rebuild with Slot.it running gear. I now have to wait for the ordered parts to arrive. I won't buy OCAR complete kits again, just the bodyshells which are now of a good quality. Decided to start an OCAR shell I did have the parts for so put together the chassis for the Vauxhal Magnum Gulf Spa version. Everthing went together very well and I'm now waiting for the front axle, (set with JB Weld), to dry before fixing the bodyshell to the chassis. Ordered a Riley and Scott LMP resin shell from Pendle, together with a Broadspeed Ford Anglia. The two sets of FF models new 13" dia wheels arrived and they look great. One set is destined for my MMK Ford Cortiuna and one set for the Broadspeed Anglia.
I managed to finish the Mclaren M12 today. The car is finished in BMW Alpine White, a brass rollbar was formed from brass rod to finish the car off. Decals from Slotcars4U. ![]() Also started work on a OCAR Porsche 550 Coupe. I built a PCS32 chassis with a standard Scalextric motor...Ocar wheels etc. I fitted Ortmans to the rear wheels and used a Slot.it pinion instead of the plastic Ocar one.
The Vectra arrived from Pendle's today so I thought I might as well make it into the Proxy car. First stripped it right down to the chassis, made sure it was straight and then fitted the new Slot.it 21K motor. Fitted the new rear bearings and slipped on a couple of Slotting Plus wheels and Slot.it S2 tyres, (yes most of the tracks in this US based Proxy are silicone friendly). Checked to make sure tyres fitted under the shell....no such luck so I had to cut back the spline on the wheel and also remove one flange of the bearing. Glued everything in refitted a new axle, Spur and the wheels. Checked out the front axle, same problem so I cut back the axle shoulders flush with the chassis and fitted new axle and wheels. Changed the guide for a Slot.it deep wood and silvered braids. Removed the centre section of the interior and replaced with black card and a lightweight driver figure. Car seems to handle OK and has a fair turn of speed. ![]()
Painted the shell of the Mclaren, one coat grey primer, two coats BMW Alpina White. Interior tub painted and ram pipes fitted to engine. Wheel inserts made from Fly Lola T70 wheels. Driver figure painted. Entered the Touring Car Proxy to start in March in the USA. My entry will be a Vauxhall Vextra, (ordered from Pendles today), I'm not sure how to modify it yet I may just fit a Slot.it Orange motor and Slot.it back axle, bearings, Spur gear. I have chosen to fit the new Slotting Plus "American" wheels which are the right size for these cars and look prety good without inserts. Should be an interesting Series as most entrants seem to have gone for the Spirit Peugeot Coupe, (Non-silouette version), thisisthe car to beat. |
