Going through my boxes of car bits, I found enough Airfix bits of the MG 1300 in 1/32nd scale to do a couple of cars.

The Austin/Morris/MG 1100 and 1300 were the 'big brother of the Mini; but not too many raced or rallied (and the Airfix kit is very rare too !).

I'll be having a go at doing a Morris 1100 in the Liege-Sofia-Liege rally in 1962, as one of the cars, like this -

And something like the below will be the second - an MG 1300. I'll be doing this as a generic saloon racing version, with the Minilite wheels, probably a red colour scheme with black roof, racing numbers and BMC Competition and assorted sponsors decals from the era.

Progress thus far -

Now doing interiors -

and primed shells

Here we go, finished -

Hi Gareth,

You can see the bonnet and open grille aperture reshaping in the pics.

The grille itself - blood sweat 'n tears I'm afraid, piece of plastic card with fine strips laid on it for the bars, then framed. Bare-metal foil, then a black wash to bring out the gaps between the grille bars.

Cheers

RICK

Only just seen this entry - superb job on the Rome -Leige 1100 - i'm now searching to find the airfix kit anywhere to do the same.

Any more info on how you made the revised grill?

Gareth
