So, I tossed and turned last night and made some compromises with the design. The original one had the benchwork too close to my work bench and that would have made me a bit crowded when working. So, I changed it around quite a bit. Here's the final layout design:

Well, I managed to work about 3 hours between yesterday and today. Got the benchwork built and ready for the legs. I was able to salvage all of the lumber from the old PDR and only had to pick up a few 1x4's. That's what the entire thing is constructed of. Doesn't need to be too heavy as I won't need to stand on this one.

So, hopefully I'll get the legs on it in the next day or so and get to start cutting out the track parts in MDF.

Enjoy!

Your room looks very comfortable and inviting, and the carpet is nice.

Where are the drivers' stations?

I believe I'll spread them out on the front side. I'll also have an alternate on the long side of the far left. That should give a nice perspective of the length of the track.

I was able to get several sections onto their legs tonight. I have a few more legs to attach tomorrow, and we'll be ready to start playing with MDF!

The "bump" out sections are only placed on the table in the rough location...obviously, they'll attach to the front of the table.

Found a few minutes to put the rest of the benchwork together tonight. Very sturdy and very easy to build. You'll notice that the far left is 4" lower than the other portions of the track base. That was not designed, I'm cheap and was two 4x4" posts short for the legs. What to do? Use the two from the table it attaches to! Plus, the change will help with the elevation changes I'm wanting to do. So, really, it was planned smile.gif
