The week before the last Vinatge LM race, we ran a friendly GT race, mainly to test some new cars and a different timing system. The cars were nice, but timing was totally wrong. Anyway, pictures follow... The grid from various angles: ![]() ![]() ![]() Heat1: ![]() Thanos, George, Nikos, Giannis Heat2: ![]() Kostas, Timos, Petros Heat3: ![]() Makis, Christos, Alexis It was the first for the NSR Porsche and Corvette and it was a good testing session. Also a first for the MB Ferrari 430 that Petros raced, but he switched it for a Ninco Audi with a motor mount later in the race. Results are of no importance as the classification method was totally wrong, but best laps may be interesting: GAITANIS ALEXIS / Slot it F40 A/W - 119laps , best lap: 8.644s KOULOURIDIS TIMOS / NSR Porsche 997 - 119laps , best lap: 8.630s KOULOURIDIS PETROS / Ninco Audi TT - 119laps , best lap: 8.651s FOKIANOS GIANNIS / NSR Mosler - 118laps , best lap: 8.083s NISKOPOULOS CHRISTOS / Slot it Mclaren A/W - 117laps , best lap: 8.451s VERGANELAKIS NIKOS / NSR Mosler - 113laps , best lap: 8.439s NIKOLAOU KOSTAS / NSR Corvette - 109laps , best lap: 8.768s ZOURBANOS GEORGE / MB Pagani Zonda - 108laps , best lap: 8.541s NISKOPOULOS THANOS / Slot it F40 A/W - 102laps , best lap: 8.990s KOYRIS MAKIS / NSR Mosler - 98laps , best lap: 9.419s
On Saturday the 25th we ran our 3rd race for the Vintage LM class championship for the 2011 season. Some Photos and results: Heat1 ![]() Heat2 ![]() Heat3 ![]() Winners: ![]() Results:
This particular race is not worth reporting as I did previously. What we saw during the race, and events (or, lack of events, to be precise...) afterwards, sparked protests from various sides, concerning issues raised in the past, not necessarily linked to this race . I have no wish to reproduce here the contents of the protest or the controversy surrounding the last few races (not this one in particular, but a few others also), and I was a bit disappointed (at least...), by the way things were handled. So I decided not to participate in the following Rally event, and possibly, the rest of the season. I wish only for things to improve after summer vacations. I believe, many people here, must work things out with their priorities, each on his own.
On Saturday the 4th of June, we raced our second race for our NSR Abarth 500 cup series. This is a very interesting series, with unpredictable results, close racing and lots of fun. The cars are a bit tricky to setup and drive, and as we use handout Supergrip tires, one needs to be very carefull with his trigger finger. But, so far, this series has produced the closest results ever seen in our club. 11 racers gathered for this event: ![]() After a quick qualify round, the grid was decided:
And the heats were formed... Heat1: ![]() Kostas, Thanos, Freddie Heat2: ![]() Alexis, Giannis, Nikos, Kostas Heat3: ![]() Petros, Timos, Giaccomo, Dimitris It was a close battle from start to finish. 4 drivers showed that it could be any of them and 2 others were at close distance ready to take advantage of any mistakes. Dimitris, Giaccomo, Petros and Alexis drove faster and steadier than the others, Timos and Kostas were a little behind. It would be a race for the smothest and easiest driving, the coolest of them would make it. The number of mistakes determined the final result. Petros and Giaccomo were almost tied at a point, then Giaccomo makes a mistake, gets stuck with another car and loses a few seconds, Petros may be in the lead, but in the last turn of the race, he gets tangled by Timo's rolling car, deslots and loses also a few seconds. Results showed tha Giaccomo edged Petros for only 0.47 seconds!!! Alexis and Dimitris a lap down on the leaders and 12 seconds apart. A few more laps down, Kostas beat Timos by less than a lap. Final results after 20mins of close racing:
It's the second race of the NSR Cup and again the top 2 are seperated by less than 1/2 a second!! This is the most exciting and close racing series ever, in our club. The same guy wins, a different second placed man (his brother though), a mixup in places and a very interesting and unpredictable series. Will see how it goes on the next race.... Till then, Winners' podium and trophies:
On Saturday we raced our second rally race for the season. This time it was a 4wd class event and it gathered 13 racers. The grid was full of various types of cars, but it was obvious that competition would be fierce, since almost all cars were top notch and well prepared, while many people practiced the stages hard, during last week’s practice sessions. Below are all cars in park ferme area: ![]() The race would be a nine stage long rally, run on 3 rally stages, repeated 3 times each. Between stages, service time was granted for repairs, fine tuning, cleaning, etc. Stage1 was a slippery, dusty, twisty and narrow track: ![]() ![]() Stage 2 was also narrow, cleaner, tarmac stage, with elevations, a slippery part, and a bridge. ![]() Stage 3 was a small mountain section with a bit of grass and a tunnel. ![]() Right from the start, it was a hard battle. Dimitris Petros and Alexis, formed a very tight top 3, which switched places almost after every stage. Giaccomo, Timos and Kostas followed in another group, fighting for places 4-6. Giannis, Christos and Nikos, were next. Dimitris grabbed the lead after stage2, lost it again in stage4, and got back in the lead in stage6. Alexis and Petros gained the lead for brief periods, but after service park2 (that is after 6 stages), it was Dimitris in the lead, with 3 seconds separating him from Petros, and another 3secs down was Alexis. In the final 3 stages, Petros made another of his all out attacks, covered the distance in stage7, got the lead in stage8 and stayed there until the end of stage 9. Dimitris stayed close, but missed the top by 3 sesc. Alexis lost too much time, and many places, to end up 6th. The battle for the following places was also fierce, final winner was Giaccomo, who drove concistently his SCX Xsara Pro. Kostas started 7th but finally elevated himself to 4th place. Timos stayed lower than his last race, in 5th place. Results after 9 stages:

On Saturday we decided to kick up our Rally championship for the season. The first race would be the 2wd category. We will run 6 races for the season, 3 races would be 2wd and 3 races for the 4wd class, adding up all points to decide the championship standings. We had 3 special stages running 3 times, and one super stage (that was our 4lane track running the opposite direction) to form a 10stage rally. We gathered 18 racers with a diversity of cars, so to add some flavor, we set a S1600 class, a rally classic class and a R3 class (but this one had only 2 entries, so no medals for these guys...). See the park ferme area: ![]() The winner of the super special stage, would get one extra point for the championship, so most people raced hard, but at the end it was Petros with a Fly Porsche 911 Evo3 that edged Kostas with the Clio NSR to take that point. Results of the super special stage: ![]() Then, off we went for our first loop of the 3 special stages. The first would be the most difficult one, with a slippery down section, a bridge, narrow passes through rocky terain and a high, up the mountain, section with rough spots (we use real sand, glued to the track and painted over, to simulate a rough and bumpy section). Here, careful but still a bit agressive driving is the key, if you are too careful, you end up slow, if you attack too much, you slide, and the rocks are very near the sides of the road. Petros wins again, Dimitris with a Fly Lancia 037 is second, then Timos with another Fly 911 Evo3 and Kostas with the very fast NSR Clio. ![]() The next stage is a mostly tarmac stage, with some slippery parts, and a few rough spots, but it's a very nice stage, it also has a bridge. Here, you need a good pace, to know exaclty were to push hard and were to lift off. ![]() You can see the slippery section, some rough spots and the bridge are located to the other side. The Fly Evo3 Porsches are well suited here, so Petros and Timos take the 2 top spots. Giannis is next with his NSR Fiat 500 Cup car, then Alexis with a Ninco Porsche and Kostas with the Clio: ![]() The third stage is the shortest (so more laps here). It's a tarmac twisty section up the mountains, were the road is slippery, grassy at a part and a bit wet sometimes. Weather would play it's part here, as drizzle came and went and changed traction during the event. ![]() Porsche trio in this one, Petros, Alexis and Timos, followed by Giannis with the Fiat 500 cup car and Dimitris with the 037. ![]() After the first loop of stages, it was service time. A 10 min service was granted to try to short the cars out, do repairs, work on setup and tires and whatever may be needed. Results after 4 stages were: ![]() Petros was already far ahead, Timos with some consistent driving was second and Kostas, still adapting to his new Clio, was third, but showing promising speed, was definetely a threat. Top S1600 entry was Thanos with a Ninco Citroen Saxo. Seemed that the race would be a Porsche battle, but still a long way to go.... For the next loop, after the service park, stage4 would be reduced from 6 to 4 laps, due to its extreme length. Kostas and Dimitris attack, Petros resists, and Timos gives up some seconds, as in this stage he is weak. Giannis and Alexis are close and Freddie tops the S1600 class. ![]() Stage 5 is a strong stage for the Porsches, so Petros and Timos are again on the top2. Kostas splits the Porsche armada, Alexis follows and George Zourbanos cames in th top5 for the first time with the Gauloises 911. ![]() Stage 6 is on the mountain, but this time a light drizzle starts in the lower part near the end. A couple of guys run this stage a bit more slippery, so results vary a bit. Top spots are close however and the overall rankings are not largely affected: ![]() After stage 6 another 10 min service time was granted. Timos missed this one, and left the car unattended, Petros on the other hand, took the opportunity to take care of his tires. Kostas was getting more and more accustomed to his new weapon, Dimitris was trying to sort his low Lancia but had trouble on the rough. Results after the second loop were: ![]() The final loop of stages would determine the results. On Stage 7 Kostas takes all risks and comes on top, with a fantastic time, Petros and Dimitris hold their own but Timos has an accident with an off resulting a rear axle coming off the car and looses 10seconds to repair in the stage. Second to third place difference is covered by Kostas and both he and Timos were almost equal with 2 stages to go. ![]() In stage 8 Petros wins but Timos loses more time, due to deslots, so all Kostas has to do is to avoid risks. Petros wins, Kostas grabs 6 seconds from Timos and secures second place, Dimitris drives well at a non suitable for the 037, stage and Timos deslots twice to lose another 10 seconds. ![]() Final stage would be the mountain stage, were the drizzle is more consistent now, and affects all participants significantly. Kostas wins, Timos comes second, but Dimitris slides the most. Petros just cruises to avoid damage and takes the win overall. Stage 9 results: ![]() And overall standings after 10 stages: ![]() S1600 class and classic rally classes had a seperate classification, with the top finish taking a medal so both classes results were: S1600 ![]() Classic: ![]() Podium and trophies: ![]() Petros win both overall and classic, Kostas is second, Timos third and Thanos takes the win in the S1600 class with his yellow Saxo. Some more photos on cars and scenery: Dimitris' Lancia: Christos' Fiat 131 Abarth: ![]() Kostas' NSR Clio R3: ![]() Thanos' top S1600 Saxo: Petros' ultra fast Porsche 911: ![]() Stelios' Citroen C2: ![]() Timos Porsche 911: ![]() Nikos' top Renault 5 turbo: ![]() George Zourbanos nice Porsche: ![]() Next race in 2 weeks time, this one will be with 4wd machines and it seems already that it will be a tough one, as Spirit Peugeots 205, MSC Metros and RS200, various Nincos, the Avant Slot 207 and the Xsara Pro by SCX are all very fast and really close. Until then, take care and race hard!!!
On Saturday we ran the first race of our new cup here. The car of choice is the new Abarth 500 from NSR, a car proposed by the Italian company for cups around Europe. A very nice choice, a very popular form of racing throughout Europe as, identical cars competing against each other and proving purely the driver's skills, is a very attractive concept. A small urban car, transformed into a racer, is also a very enoyable sight. Rules are simple, we use the NSR Abarth 500, any NSR choice of chassis and suspension for the car is allowed, any gear choice (NSR only), stock s/w motor mount with stock motor, stock wheels and handout tires (supergrips). 12 racers gathered for the event. Below are the cars in the pits: Before the main event, a 3lap qualifying session took place on the blue lane, to determine the order of the heats. Results were:
Heat1 was: ![]() Giaccomo, Timos, Vasilis and Petros Heat2 was: ![]() Dimitris, Kostas, Giannis and Nikos (Christos moved to heat3 as he and Giannis shared the same car) Heat3 (which I neglected to picture Right from the start it became obvious that the handout tires would be a handfull. Cars are a bit high and relatively narrow, and this calls for a careful driving style. Drivers that were handicapped from bad tires right out of the box where Nikos and Petros, who lost a lot of time, Petros even had to change a defective tire at the start of run2. Timos, Giacomo, Vasilis and Dimitris were battling for the top, while Maria got mixed in a fight with Kostas and Giannis. Laptimes were very close, and Petros set the lap record at 9.305 in an attempt to catch up. Vasilis was trying a bit too hard, and lost momentum after a couple of deslots, Dimitris had a bad run on the blue lane that was a bit more slippery and it proved to be a close finish for both Giaccomo and Timos. In fact it was too close! Only 128/1000s of a second separated the two drivers. Giaccomo grabbed the lead at the last minute, as Timos had an unexpected off and missed another 31lap run. The closest finish ever! So, results after 20mins of racing, were:
Cars lined up next to the trophies: ![]() The winners' podium: ![]() Overall, a very nice race, lots of fun, great racing, a really close finish, nice cars, an unexpected result and possibly a very interesting season to come. A nice change from the low, wide and ultra fast GT-LMP cars. The NSR cup is definetely becoming a success here too. Until the next race... Update: Vasilis shot another excellent video...
Another GT class friendly race last weekend, to keep things warm. Only this time we had a newcomer. Our distributor began representing the NSR company here in Greece, so NSR Moslers were available to race here for the first time (as well as all the other racing cars of the Italian company). 14 racers came for this event, running a variety of cars, divided in 4 heats. Heat 1: ![]() Maria, Giannis Fokianos, George Zourbanos and Nikos Verganelakis Heat2: ![]() Kostas Nikolaou, Timos and Petros Heat3: ![]() Iraklis, Christos Fokianos and George Kefalonitis Heat4: ![]() Degleris Kostas, Degeleris Nektarios, Stelios Prineas and Zannete It was a very fast race, there was intense fighting for several spots on the standings, a new official lap record and a strong first time out for the NSR Mosler. There was not a very hard fight for the top, as the MB Pagani Zonda that Petros drove, is still the fastest car on the track. A new lap record of 7.88s and 146 laps for 20mins of racing sum up the fastest race ever held on this layout. A fight for second ended in favor of Timos who managed to edge out Kostas, both driving Moslers. Maria, Giannis and Iraklis had a very close fight, which ended with the 3 drivers within a lap from each other. Maria drove the Nissan to 4th, Giannis the Mclaren to 5th and Iraklis, after a long time brought the second Zonda to 6th. Nikos Verganelakis drove a Mosler with a steady pace and this earned him the unofficial top senior (over 50 ? ) place. Christos Fokianos and Gearge Zourbanos, not so fast this time, the had to settle for lower places. After 20mins, the full results: 1.Petros 146 laps Zonda MB 2.Timos 142 laps Mosler NSR 3.Kostas Nikolaou 139 laps Mosler NSR 4.Maria 135 laps Nissan Slot it 5.Giannis Fokianos 135 laps Mc Laren Slot it 6.Iraklis 134 laps Zonda MB 7.Nikos Verganelakis 130 laps Mosler NSR 8.Christos Fokianos 121 laps Peugeot 406 Spirit 9.George Zourbanos 120 laps Zonda MB 10.Stelios Prineas 112 laps Peugeot 406 Spirit 11.Zannette 93 laps Peugeot 406 Spirit 12.Kostas Degleris 79 laps Nissan Slot it 13.Nektarios Degleris 68 laps - Porsche 956 Slot it 14.George Kefallonitis 65 laps Mosler NSR So, another win for the MB car that Petros has prepared. It seems that this car wins everytime it races and doesn't encounter problems. ![]() Second place for the NSR Mosler that Timos drove: ![]() Third place for another Mosler, this one was driven by Kostas: ![]() Top Slot it car driven by Maria, it was a Nissan this time: ![]() After the first major test, it seems that NSR Moslers will become a major player here in Greece also, but the main question remains for another race. Who can beat the purple Zonda? Until next time.....
On Saturday we ran our second race of the season for our points series. For 2011 we race sports and prototypes from the sixties and seventies. It is a very interesting class, as together with the usual suspects, the Slot it racing cars, we match some modified Fly, Sloter and Spirit entries. 16 racers gathered for the event, divided in 4 heats. The grid for this one was very interesting: ![]() In heat1 we had: ![]() Freddie's Porsche 936, George Zourbanos' Alfa no34, George Kefalonitis' Alfa no54 and Alexis' Racer Ferrari 250LM Then we had heat2 with: ![]() Vasilis Fillipoglou with a Ferrari 312PB, Christos Fokianos with a Fly Porsche 908, Hercules with the Alfa and Nikos Verganelakis with the Ferrari 312PB In heat3 there were: ![]() Giannis Fokianos with the orange Ferrari, Vassilis APR with the Alfa, Maria with the Ferrari 312PB and Giaccomo with the Racer Ferrari 312P And finally in heat4: ![]() Petros raced the Sloter Ferrari 312PB, I raced a Fly Ferrari 512S, Dimitris raced a Fly Porsche 917LH and Kostas had a new Alfa 33. It was a very fast race with a lot of interesting battles throughout its whole 20min duration. Petros had the lead from the start, Kostas started very fast and was a very close second and Dimitris was not very far behind. I was too nervous, deslotted a lot, even dropped the car from the table at some point, and lost too much time in the first two runs. George Zourbanos was very fast, Maria tried to drive without many mistakes and Giaccomo started a bit cautious with the heavy Racer Ferrari. Vassilis APR was also fast with the Alfa, all of them were within a lap from each other. Things got a bit more complicated in the process, as Giaccomo accelerated, Maria got a bit tired, George Zourbanos was steady and fast, clocking better times, and Vassilis wore his tires a bit more than he should. Giannis Fokianos was not as fast as in the first race, as he didn't practice much, Christos his brother was a equally fast but a bit more cautious. Nick Verganelakis had some trouble with the tires of his car, as did Hercules, who came back after a long absence due to his marriage and his wife's pregnancy! In the third run, Petros gained a bit of a gap from Kostas, and I tried much harder, so I passed Dimitris (who faced tire trouble near the end of the run) and closed up on Kostas. Vassilis lost time, but Giaccomo raced flawlessly and climbed one more place. Maria could not accelerate, but still got away from Vassilis and George Zourbanos who had a few offs this time. In the final run, it was a 'do or die' case for me, which ended up in succes and I narrowly edged Kostas for second place. Kostas was really fast and made very few mistakes, and this meant that I had to try really hard, but I guess I got a bit lucky at some point (or Kostas got a bit unlucky, to put it right). Giaccomo's consistent drive paid off, so he came on fourth place, ahead of many lighter and faster machines. Maria was next and then we had George Zourbanos, a gentleman driver, the top rookie entry for this race (Kostas may also be considered a rookie, as he races his first season, but his performance is so high that we agreed to not consider him a rookie anymore!). In the second family duel, Christos beat his brother Giannis, driving a supposedly slower Fly car, compared to his brother's Slot it Ferrari. Guess Giannis must spend more time driving and less time installing lights in other people's cars!! So results after 20mins of racing:
Best lap of the race, not a slot it car, but a Fly Ferrari 512S (modified off course) with 8.417s Winners on the podium: ![]() Some car photos: ![]() Kostas' fast Alfa, came really close!! ![]() Giannis' orange Ferrari, and Maria's red one, very different but very fast ![]() Petros' winning Ferrari, with some Abarth badges!! ![]() Timos' second placed car, a modified Ferrari 512S ![]() George Zourbanos, won the rookie trophy and everyone's respect, (his age is somewhere above 50 and this is his first season in slots) driving this Alfa 33 And a video that Maria shot during the 3rd run of heat4: Overall, a really fast race, with some surprizes and very fast laptimes!!
On Saturday we ran our first Group5 race for the 2011 season. It's been a while since we've ran a Gr5 class, mostly because there are a lot of new guys here and they don't have many cars yet, so we are working on the developement of all our classes a little slowly. Nevertheless, we gathered 15 racers for this friendly event, divided into 4 heats. 20mins of racing as usual, over the 4lane Ninco club track, simple rules, always non mag, only gr5 cars raced in the 1975-1981 period, and a lot of fun for all participants. All cars in the pit area: ![]() Starting with heat1: ![]() George Kefalonitis Fly Capri Evo2, Maria's FLY BMW M1 Evo3, Stelios Prineas' Alpine A310 and George Zourbanos' FLY BMW M1 Evo3. Then it was heat2: ![]() Vassilis Fillipoglou Ninco Porsche, Thanos' FLY Porsche 934 Evo3 and Christos' Racer Porsche 935 Heat3 followed: ![]() Giaccomo's FLY BMW M1 Evo3, Timos' Fly BMW 3.5CSL, Petros Fly Ford Capri FF and Dimitris Dimas' FLY BMW 3.5CSL And finally heat4: ![]() Nikos Verganelakis' Fly Ford Capri Evo2, Giannis Fokianos' BMW M1 Evo3, Vassilis APR Fly BMW M1 Evo3 and Alexis Gaitanis' FLY Lancia Beta Montecarlo. It was really interesting all the way to the end. The M1 Evo3 cars had the edge over the Evo2 Capris but there were a few notably fast almost stock Fly cars, especially a front motored Capri that placed itself in a very respectable position at the finish line. The battle was fierce between Vassilis APR, Giaccomo, Giannis Fokianos and Maria (being 5months pregnant certainly affects the stamina and the ability to drive slot cars), who ended in that order. Maria fought a really hard fight with Stelios Prineas and his A310 in her heat, but Stelios faced some front end trouble at midpoint and lost time and places. Still his Avant Slot Alpine, clocked the fastest lap of the day at 9.108secs. Vassilis was fast, so was Giaccomo, and Giannis was the steadiest of the 3 of them, so at the end they all finished a lap apart from each other. Maria was 3 laps down and then we had three drivers on the same lap. Alexis, George Zourbanos and Petros, finished the 20min race only a few seconds apart! One lap down was Stelios, a furious drive but many deslots and some damage to the front end, left him out of the fight for the top3. A further 2 laps behind was Nikos Verganelakis with his black Fly Evo2 Capri and then there was another interesting duel. Timos and Dimitris with 2 almost stock FLY BMW 3.5 CSL cars, raced each other and had possibly the most sideways moments of all the other guys !! After all heats were over, final results were:
Below are some of the pics of the cars raced, together with some info, were I had any ![]() Chris' Racer 935, inline, Boxer2 closed can motor ![]() Dimitris BMW, front motor 21.5k, stock wheels and tires. ![]() Giannis Fokianos' Fly BMW M1 Evo3, almost stock, Scorpion motor, F15 tires ![]() Giaccomo, an almost identical car ![]() And Maria, the third almost identical BMW M1 Evo3 with Scorpion motor and F15 tires ![]() Vassilis APR had another BMW M1 but this one had a Spirit Lemans motor, wide wheels from a standard M1, and F15 GT tires (20x11) ![]() Thanos borrowed a Porsche 934 from Vasilis, this also had an evo3 chassis, wheels from the standard car and F15 GT tires ![]() George Zourbanos had the Motul M1, with evo3 chassis. ![]() George was given this Capri Evo2 from Petros, but faced controler trouble and did not very well ![]() Petros raced this front motored Capri, stock wheels, stock rear tires, 21.5k slot it motor and finished on top of the FF cars ![]() This is the other BMW 3.5CSL, that I borrowed from Vassilis and raced against Dimitris' BMW Personally, this was the most relaxed and enjoyable race I have raced for a long time. I really like Gr5 cars, and especially this version of the BMW 3.5 CSL (I think it was the turbocharged car that Peterson and Nilson drove in 1976 at Silverstone), and I had a lot of fun, with extreme sideways moments in the last R5 turn that leads to the main straight. I think most of the guys had the same feelings, they all seemed to have a lot of fun.
On Saturday we ran our first points series' race for the new season. This year we decided to run a Vintage LM class, consisting from sports and prototypes cars that raced in the sixties and seventies. We run 20min races on our club track, a 4 lane Ninco layout, as usual. Turnout was promising, as 18 drivers showed up, so we formed 5 heats this time. The rules where again not the same for the faster and the more experienced racers. For the newcomers it was pretty much an open class, with the only limitation being the use of the slot it 21.5k orange motor and the use of F series tires. Older guys, could use the same combination, but if running slot it cars, they where restricted to running P series tires (any from P1 to P6), black offset pods, teal endbell 19k motors and no suspension on their cars. For this race, no 'old dog' chose a slot it car, so they had the option to use the orange motor, and the F tires. And we formed a very interesting grid after all. ![]() Heat 1 was an all slot it battle: ![]() George Damato, Giannis Fokianos, Stelios Prineas, George Zourbanos Heat 2 had a bit of a Racer and Fly flavor: ![]() Sotiris, Alexis, Vassilis and Maria In heat3 we had a Spirit Porsche 936 entry: ![]() Kostas Degleris, Nektarios Degleris, Vassilis Fillipoglou In heat 4 another Porsche 936 and a Fly 908: ![]() Kostas Kefalonitis, Freddie and Christos Fokianos In heat 5 a Fly, sloter, slot it mix: Kostas Nikolaou, Petros, Dimitris, Timos Well, this set of rules produced a very exciting race after all. At the end of the first 5mins, the top 8 where within 2 laps. At the end of the second run, 5 racers where battling for the top 3 being in 2 laps distance from the top. Even the winner was decided on the last minutes of the final run. At the beginning, it was Petros with the sloter Ferrari 312, followed by Dimitris in the black 512 and Timos with the blue Lola T290. But Kosta Nikolaou and Giannis Fokianos with the orange Slot it Ferraris as well as Maria with the red n86 identical car where in the same lap. Vasilis was not too far behind with the Porsche 906. After 10 mins, Kostas Nikolaou was still tied with the top 3, Maria and Giannis where a little behind and Vasilis started having tire problems that resulted to a very bouncy car. The 4 drivers stayed almost together until the end, where Petros faced some serious tire trouble and lost 2 laps. Dimitris was flawless and grabbed the top spot. Kostas stayed very close and finished the top4, winning the newcomer trophy as well!! Extreme graining, tire marbles stuck on the tires and not going off, bouncy cars resulted low traction and a great difference between left and right tires. Is it possilble that the lack of suspension and the chassis that is too stiff, to be the causes of these handling issues? It could be.
