For the class1 of our Classic GT category, we chose the group5 cars that raced in the late 70s.
Again we had 8 racers (Andreas had to leave, but Stelios came in his place), and we gathered a field of 8 cars, seen below in their pit boxes:


Qualifying results on the blue lane were:

1. Petros - Ford Capri : 9.2s
2. George - Lancia Beta : 9.21s
3. Maria - BMW M1 : 9.44s
4. Timos - Lancia Beta : 9.68s
5. Vasilis - Porsche 934 : 9.73s
6. Thomas - Ford Capri : 9.86s
7. Christine - Ford Capri : 9.91s
8. Stelios - BMW M1 : 10.48s

So top four go to the first heat and we have:

Inner to outer, Petros, George, Maria and Timos, an all Fly field of cars.

In this heat Petros and George battled it out from the beginning, while Maria followed them from a distance. I tried to stay close, but my Lancia had several bouncing problems and near the end, a front wheel came loose and I had to pit frequently to tighten the front axle. Nevertheless, it was a fun race for, as I like my car very much!!!

In the second heat we had:

Inner to outer again, Vasilis with a Ninco 934, Thomas with a std Capri (like the one that Petros raced in heat1), Christine with an Evo2 Capri and Stelios with a M1.

In this heat Vasilis got to an early lead, but soon Christine caught him and then got away by a lap. In the 3rd and 4th runs, Vasilis charged but Christine held on and their diff didn't change. Thomas was sliding more than he should and was third. Stelios had setup trouble, his M1 was low and gearing was not correct, so he could not fight for a better place.

After adding up all rounds, final results are:

1. Petros : 123laps 10.50m
2. George : 123laps 5.05m
3. Maria : 117laps 25.21m
4. Christine : 117laps 16.63m
5. Vasilis : 116laps 20.41m
6. Timos : 115laps 12.68m
7. Thomas : 115laps 8.87m
8. Stelios : 104laps 18.22m

So the winner, and holding the fastest lap of the race at 8.999s, is:

Petros with a std front motored Capri, having only a v12/3 21.5k motor, stock wheels and tires, and plenty of trimming, tuning, gluing, shimming etc...

Second place is:

George with a Fly Lancia Beta, a very fast and stable car

In third place, our first lady racer:

Maria, with modified Fly M1 with Slot.it parts all around

In fourth spot, our second lady racer:

Christine, with a box stock Fly Capri Evo2

In fifth place:

Vasilis with a Ninco 934 that had a Spirit S03X (not very fast) motor and Spirit tires only!!

In sixth place it was... :

Yeah... you guessed it, it was me with my Lancia Beta project car.

In seventh spot, just a few meters behind me:

Thomas, with a front motored Fly Capri that had a Slot.it rear end.

And in eighth place:

Stelios, with a modified M1

This concludes our Classic GT race, a very enjoyable event with plenty of action and a very nice field of entries. As a summary, the class1 cars were faster than the class2, and mostly stock cars like the Capri that Petros drove, did not necessarily loose to modified cars like George's Lancia and Maria's M1. Off course, motors are not stock, most people used Slot.it v12/3 motors.
