On Saturday we ran our fourth Slot it Group C championship race of the season. This time we ran a night race. The only light in the room was that from the two pc screens displaying the results. The work of the marshals proved to be much more difficult than the drivers.
As always the "old dogs" are limited to race with inline motor mount set up and the rest of the guys are given the option to use the faster and more reliable sidewinder motor mount set up.
The championship is heating up as after 3 of the 6 races there are four drivers that compete for the first place. Everyone is trying for its best in order to go on vacation a bit more relaxed.
8 racers came up for this one. A lot of guys were missing, since the temperature is rising rapidly in Greece and most of the guys (especially their girlfriends/wives!!) prefer the beaches instead of the track. Despite that, we had a colorful grid on the track.

At the first heat Petros and Tzakomo clearly stated that they will compete for the win. Tzakomo was faster, with better lap times but Petros was steadier. 34 laps for both of them while Timos had 33 and Dimitris 32. In the next leg, Christine whith a steady medium pace had 32 laps trying to adopt to the difficult visual conditions. Alexis scored 30 laps, two ahead of Sotiris and George who scored 28. Sotiris lost his front screw and had serious problems at the last minustes of this heat.
At the second heat Tzakomo and Petros continued their fight for the first place. Timos had a good heat and managed to catch up with them at 65 laps. Christine seems to find a good pace and finished a lap behind Timos at 64 laps while Dimitris seems to loose his tempo and temper and finished at 63 laps, falling fifth. Alexis had 60 laps, Sotiris 58 and George 53, things seem to clear up at these places.
At the third heat Tzakamo is in front of petros for 1,5 secs both at 98 laps. Christine makes a very good heat and passes in front of Timos both at 97 laps. Dimitris seems to have completely lost his tempo and finishes at 93 laps. At the back Sotiris (90 laps) made his come back and passed in front of Alexis (89 laps) while George had 76 laps.
In the last heat Petros had the least problems and had a clear lead right from the start achieving his first win of the season. Tzakomo find a good pace at the lat minutes but couldn't fill in the gap. Christine had an almost perfect heat and managed to catch Petros and Tzakomo at the same laps (130) but her only mistake cost her a better place on the podium. Timos finished fourth at 128 laps, Dimitris fifth at 123 laps. Sotiris has 121, Alexis 119 and George 103 laps.

Overall it was a very competitive (as always) race. The lights of the cars created a very nice atmosphere in the complete darkness, a must view spetacle for all slot fans. The next race will also be night, somewhere at October, where more racers will surely show up. The championship is still on fire as Tzakomo, Dimitris, Petros and Timos are really close (2 points gap from first to fourth place) while Christine is only 3 points behind in fifth place, and there are only two more races left.
