On Saturday the 4th of June, we raced our second race for our NSR Abarth 500 cup series. This is a very interesting series, with unpredictable results, close racing and lots of fun. The cars are a bit tricky to setup and drive, and as we use handout Supergrip tires, one needs to be very carefull with his trigger finger. But, so far, this series has produced the closest results ever seen in our club.

After a quick qualify round, the grid was decided:

Heat1:

Kostas, Thanos, Freddie

Alexis, Giannis, Nikos, Kostas

Heat3:

Petros, Timos, Giaccomo, Dimitris

It was a close battle from start to finish. 4 drivers showed that it could be any of them and 2 others were at close distance ready to take advantage of any mistakes. Dimitris, Giaccomo, Petros and Alexis drove faster and steadier than the others, Timos and Kostas were a little behind. It would be a race for the smothest and easiest driving, the coolest of them would make it. The number of mistakes determined the final result. Petros and Giaccomo were almost tied at a point, then Giaccomo makes a mistake, gets stuck with another car and loses a few seconds, Petros may be in the lead, but in the last turn of the race, he gets tangled by Timo's rolling car, deslots and loses also a few seconds. Results showed tha Giaccomo edged Petros for only 0.47 seconds!!! Alexis and Dimitris a lap down on the leaders and 12 seconds apart.
A few more laps down, Kostas beat Timos by less than a lap.

It's the second race of the NSR Cup and again the top 2 are seperated by less than 1/2 a second!! This is the most exciting and close racing series ever, in our club. The same guy wins, a different second placed man (his brother though), a mixup in places and a very interesting and unpredictable series. Will see how it goes on the next race....
