When building my
track, I looked around for some inspiration to develop some ideas and create
some buildings. I found some photos of Le Mans in 1976, and this
photo of the Greenwood Vette in the pits. The design suited the
space and thus, I built the structure.
So, here is my version of that
scene. How do I get the doors open ;-)

In '76 it was seen by most as representing the best of American
muscle power and performance. These guys were invited to come to Le Mans
(all expenses paid) to help revitalize the race at a time when
petrol embargos and OPEC price controls was stifling motor sport in general. The
Corvettes were very loud and had a huge impact on the field and the crowd.
I think they succeeded in what they set out to do.

It's a great model with very interesting
tampo printing. Plenty of detail all over. Photo-etched grills on
the front and back, a detailed driver and complete cockpit
contribute to the overall good quality.
|
It's a typical Revell-runner though. I
don't know why they choose their gear ratios, but the acceleration and
braking is as bad as it gets. Once going, it drives fine though and
handles quite well. The magnet is adjustable. I haven't tried removing
it - probably won't bother.
|
The only issue regarding the quality of
the tampo print, is the 200 years of independence anniversary centerpiece
that originates from a low quality graphic and is somewhat pixilated.

I have not glued on the front and rear
fog light that are supplied in an accessory bag as I'm sure they'll
get lost if they come off around the track. Other that those bits, the
car is very solid and robust. I prefer to run this car from time to
time rather than keep it on the shelf. They wouldn't fit motors in
them if they were only meant to sit around.

The car has the classic "Coke
bottle" form, accentuated flares, wing and hood made for an
interesting shape.
