Slot.it Jaguar XJR12

2nd Daytona 1992

D.Jones S.Pruett D.Brabham S.Goodyear

Weighing 900 kg, and powered by a 7 L 60 degree SOHC V12 developing 730 hp / 545 kW @ 7000 rpm, and 579 ft.-lb. / 785 N·m @ 5500 rpm, the XJR-12 could hit 368 km/h / 229 mph.

During the 1990 24 Hours of Le Mans, the XJR-12 covered 4882.4 km at an of average speed of 204.036 km/h / 126.782 mph with a maximum trap speed of 353 km/h / 219 mph.

This car that the model is based on came second in the 1992 24 Hours of Daytona (More info).

This slotcar model was tested with the Slot.it Mazda 787B and the Nissan R390 GT1. Very difficult to rate it against those two cars. It performed very well and was on a par with the Nissan. This car by itself would be better than most though as it is built well and runs exceptionally smoothly.

Perhaps this livery is slightly less recognisable than the Silk Cut livery, but it is however a nice design. A few minor problems on the tampo printing - see the detail photo below. The driver (Davy Jones) is well done and has tampo printing on the helmet and even the harness - neat.

The car is supplied with the SIMS06 in-line 21,500 rpm motor, offset in-line mount and had a chassis that can have an angle winder motor fitted if desired.

The car is supplied with a racing airfoil (plain black). This display one hasn't come off yet and is stronger then the Mazda one. A spare pair of racing tyres are also supplied.

If you want to remove the rear wheel covers, I suppose you could use a mild solvent to melt the glue and then slide the panels off.

This model is available in the Bud Light livery now for about £45. The Silk Cut XJR12 #34 (2nd Le Mans 1991) and #35 (3rd Le Mans 1991) are on pre-order from your favourite slotcar shop for the same price. They are due in Q1 of 2010. They will probably come with stickers over the ciggy ads.
