In the process of sorting through my scrapbox with a view to throwing out I came across an old SCX Subaru shell from the Tyco era. My first thought was 'bin it' and just as I was about to salvage the driver and copi I saw a PKS chassis (from my competition days no less). A conversion came to mind and more so when I found that the wheelbase was perfect. But oh that long guide arm? What could I do with that? I must add that the PKS was originally under a fibre Celica shell - the ones that dominate precisely because of their long front end. A weird idea began to formulate! As you can see ....... The Subaru with about 1cm added at the front. Now the chassis fits!! Looks kinda odd, but .......That was yesterday's work. My painting skills are duff and I usually end up trying to create some kind of 'aged effect' to hide the mistakes. This was no exception. The end! An air-intake from a Ford RS200 added, and all wheelarches enlarged. Blue and white, because I couldn't be bothered going out to buy different colours. And finally 'aged' with a black marker pen smudged with alcohol from the medicine cabinet. ![]() Patience was never my virtue, so I should have done more sanding down to hide the joints! But as it goes like a bomb with a TeamSlot 'Diablo' motor and a 28z Ninco crown - perhaps nobody will notice!!! Cheers FB
