Here are some pics of my track as of a few months ago.

I have since added the Scalextric C7042 power base, modded it for appearance, added a few new structures, some new flags/flagpoles, night lighting, and actually configured some of the taller items to fold down so I can fold the track up and away when not in use. More on this later.

I use Scalextric track painted with River Rocks paint and handmake my own track borders in a sectional fashion to correspond with track pieces. Why? This table is designed to be reconfigured each year. I design thoughout the year, but generally remove the old track pieces after Xmas, sand and fill holes, repaint, and then have a new track up and running by the start of the F1 season. Because of this I have dropped the practice of making full-on scenery. All detailing is done on modular bases that screw to the table...these include structures, figures, signs, lighting and the rest. I can reconfigure these when I reconfigure the track.

In the next installation, I'll back up to document more on the fold-up nature of the track. It appears as a perfectly presentable, finished piece of furniture in my room when folded up. I like this because, living in Texas, I have scaled this hobby to make use of space that is usable 365 day a year...AC, heat, the works. It also helps to keep dust down. smile.gif

That looks really neat. What size is the table?

It is 10.5 feet by 4.5 feet. Lengthwise it is designed to completely fill up a niche in my wall space. Width was determined by the height of the track off the floor (2 feet) and my desire to be able to have the whole thing, on it's wheels, fit through a doorway when folded up.
