I can't quite remember when I first became aware of the Uniroyal Fun Cup Endurance series but it must have been through watching the MOTORS TV coverage of the Spa 25 Hours. Its quite something to see over a hundred cars piling down the hill towards Eau Rouge at the start of the race and to be honest almost anytime during the race. ![]() Then I saw adverts in Autosport magazine for the UK series and went on to researched it a bit on the internet, like you do. It's a low cost spec endurance race series offering the clubman racer in the UK, across Europe (where it started) and now in the USA, more racing for their money than your normal "clubbie" formula. Your typical national race will be between four and six hours long and the highlight of the season is the get together at the Spa 25 Hours. Now this is something I would definitely like to get involved in but as usual "low cost" is a relative term when you've got a wife and two daughters so the slot racing version has been what I've been aiming for. About this time last year I resolved to make my own based on the Airfix old Beetle bodyshell, a Ninco Renault Clio rally chassis and for some strange reason the Scalextric tuning parts. The car I was going to model was this one, ![]() which was the top UK finisher in the 2005 Spa 25 Hours. I even emailed the team for their body colour and dimensions of their white stripes. The blue turned out to be a Porsche colour so I opted for a Tamiya light blue instead I was delighted therefore when I saw that Revell are going to produce at least two of the Uniroyal Fun Cup racers. ![]() I hope this takes off for them because there are literally hundreds of liveries to choose from. The only down side is they are not due to be released until October and we all know how good release dates are.
