I now have the room for Distant Dream Race Park to become a reality. No more messing around with a poxy portable track, that has been sold.

Stage 1. My desire is to have a track for a nascar oval, how about this?

Stage 2. I also want a Slot Forum Test Track, how about this?

Stage 3. I also want a windy track, how about this?

Too windy, so maybe flatten out, how about this?

I'm happy with 1 and 2, not so sure on 3, ignore all the xlcs I'll think about lane changes at another time. Any suggestion for stage 3?

Have you forgotten PokeyStickTM?

It's been a while so I forgive you, but I'm not a great fan of de-slots, love the sliding, so I'm working on a way to keep the little blighter's in the slot without me having to become a good driver. And yes it will be routed this time.

I'm planning on having a 3 way switch to make the lane changes flick to the correct track dependant on which one you want. Wouldn't want someone taking a short cut around the outside.

I've tried to use HankScorpios parabolic turns where I could.

Ah yes, PokeyStick™, it's been a while. Ember? When can we expect the first shipment?

Deslots? Just stick with deep guides, low voltage, and low grip.

As for the layout itself, I still like it. You might adjust some things in the infield, to separate out those areas that get really close, but I wouldn't straighten them out like you suggest with the yellow lines. Leave the straights for the oval.

Just thought of this... You might see if you can squeeze in a bit longer pit lane, especially if you can get two lanes in there, and some room behind for some pit buildings (unless you're going for pure racing, rather than modeling). You could put the pit lane at the top rather than at the starting/lap counting straight. I realize that might be strange for a miniature modeled race track, but no matter for a pure race track. Including the SlotForum test track does make that hard, though.

I´m loving these multi-path tracks ideas that are popping up! I think it´s an amazing way to take advantage of space, get variation and use the digital possibilities. I can just imagine a future where we can trigger switches in the RMS and actually change the path on the fly in the RMS while driving making a 20 meter track end up being 40 meters of different driving.

Really want to see this built! I only went so far as to try to put an oval into a RoC inspired layout (on paper and in TrackPower still). But I think you have a much better idea of what one should do.

Me, I like more room for the cars in the corners to slide. Putting some normal Scaley borders on those corners in the layout program will show that you dont have much room I think. And me, I would go nuts and follow the British Slot Car Racing Associations recommendations and probably put 15 cm between the outer slot and the end of the track in the curves if possible.

I am convinced (*adjusts his aluminium hat*) that my cars grow longer in the corners. Space never seems to be enough at times. And as Mr Holmes so well put it, "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?". So I´m sticking to my theory.

And speaking about space. One misstake I learned now myself on my first routed track. Think ahead and leave space also to put up fences and borders. Even if one is not building a scenic track, one will most likely end up wanting some nice track side fences or borders at least. If nothing else to keep the cars from flying into the wall or floor when the neighbours kids are over (not for us, since we are professionals and never deslot ourselfs).

Not had any orders. I figured there was no interest.

After all the hard work, it turns out looking washed out at the last step. Oh well, looks good on my computer.

So here we have the final product of my days working in GIMP.

 • Track is 178 wide with an additional 25 either side for the curb.
 • The only points that touch are intended.
 • I need help with where to put the lane changers for racing
 • I'm considering using 4mm mdf so my anti-deslot guides don't have to be long

I have also learnt my lesson and it's best to start off simple, what you see there is stage 4

So here are the intended stages of the build.

Stage 1

Stage 2 Maybe go Digital here and use Stage 1 as pits

Stage 3 Definitely going Digital here.

Great news, bought a router, bad news broken first time I used it. Worse news rather than replacing they have sent it back for repair.

More great news, the wife wanted a couple of archways in the lounge covered up I talked her into using mdf, bad news the arches were 1400mm x 2000mm so I had to use 2 sheets of 1200mm x 2400mm to cover them, great news that left me with 2 1000 x 1200 per archway.

Even better news she wanted both sides of the arch covered. So that left me with 8 bits of 6mm x 1000 x 1200 mdf. Wahoooooo

been visiting the topic 4 car PB's where I saw a ROC track for the first time. Decided looks like fun and what sort of race park would I have without one?

A few things I'm having trouble getting my brain around.
 1. Do I need a bridge
 2. If so how do I build it (removable like jump ramps?)
 3. Is there a better ROC track in there somewhere?

So here is Stage 5

Next chapter is about to begin, unfortunately with less space only 3.6m x 2.4m (11.81 feet x 7.87 feet), so back to the drawing board. This weeks purchases are......

Some track

A hoist-able table.

Hi
Welcome back Trevor, looking forward to seeing/reading about the build

You do need to update the firmware in the C7042apb but don't be tempted to use the old cable from c7030 as it will get fried

Finally someone living in Auckland building a digital track! Looking forward to seeing progress on this.
By the way, if you want to just update the APB I have the cable for doing it. If you want to see what the APB+cable+RCS64 combo is capable of, your are more than welcome to come to my place to have a go at it. Send me a PM and we can set a time (and I can give you my address).

Are you routing the track or using plastic? - not clear from your post whether you just bought the platinum set or you already had it.
Do you have a layout of the track? I guess that the one you originally posted here is not going to fir the new space.

I'm going to be routing it, but using bits from the plantinum set to handle the digital side (that is going to take some thought and work). Until then the table to be routed will have plastic track on it, might just make the slotforum test track.

Realised I had room for another 1.2 m2 of track.

So here we have Nascar Oval, slotforum test track, pit lanes and use of extra bit. Just need to add in connections to make a windy track and a ROC track. Any suggestions always welcome.

I haven't give room for sliding out on the nascar oval as it will be a walled oval.

I have ended up with 3 CLC sensor track, I've no idea where 2 of the switching track is, the 3rd was cut up for a pit exit/on my last track. Can these be useful for anything?

I need to wire up a start line on the inside track of the slot forum test track do that I can get lap times. I figure I'll put switches in to turn it off during other races.

Hows this for the windy sections?

Mr F: I messed up the GT track it will join up before the pits not after and ignore all the arrows. Here is the GT trackish the black drawn in curves will be parabolic.

RacingSnake: As great of an idea as that is and in my previous plan I would have done that, but I'm starting to realise I don't need to use every available space for track, so I'm trying to keep 15mm room for sliding out on the corners. I does make me groan though to see all the white space, but I'm new to all this and trying to listen to the much older and a little wiser others on the forum.

I'm going to make as much as I can out of plastic track before I start routing to ensure it works for me. I've designed a stick called grabyStick™, it is a broom handle with magnets on the end to pick up cars that have come off. If needed you can also poke the cars too.
