hi peeps now we are into the new season i just want to ask are we doing the qualifying like steer ask i think it would be a good idea and has my vote just want to no how it will work if we do it??? wacko.gif

i would say three laps before each meet to decide the groups no points just starting groups fast laps can count towards lap records as it is under race con, first order should be winner of the old class goes first and so on what da you all thinks question.gif

Ye the quali sounds like a good plan to me, thumbsup.gif

3 laps is a good quali distance with the best lap counting. no points for quali, just sorts out the race groups. thumbsup.gif

This should mean closer races within the groups. yikes.gif

I'm looking forward to the next groups should be good fun. banana.gif

Hi,

Qualifing will be good but will take up abit of time...so those who over fettle will have to speed up thumbsup.gif


I think 3 laps and no points is good, but i will say lap times dont count towards lap records ph34r.gif

Cos it aint race conditions its qualifing dry.gif

Qualifing order is finishing order from last round question.gif

Another point what needs to be raised is fixing of cars by marshalls.

The marshall is there to put cars back on not fix your car, so what are we going to decide on car repairs question.gif This isnt a dig at Duck tongue.gif

Looking forward to new season, it will be closer than the one just gone dribble.gif

WELL after reading what peeps put i have an idea, one lap qualiy this cuts down on time also means no mistakes come off on the lap means thats it shite or bust kinda thing....

also top six in qualiy have points not for the class but a over all qualiy championship, so after the five meets with the two classes we should end up with, ninco aw mag 1st 2nd 3rd etc modern rally 1st 2nd 3rd and 1st 2nd 3rd in over all qualiy both classes qualiy added together.. question.gif this should stop sand baggin too... thumbsup.gif


as for peeps picking up and sorting out others cars, only if asked and car has to stop next to that marcial a 10sec penalty added not sure really, trouble is will the car make it back to the drive does everyone take a screw driver and glue up to race with them question.gif i agree there should be a law as such but what i dont really no... unsure.gif

Just changing the subject slightly, on the Wye Valley Stages we had to push a stricken Sierra around two stages, it had transmission trouble and its what rally marshals and spectators do! All in the spirit of competition.
Sorry - back to the plot, why not put class leaders 1 and 3 in with 5 and 7 then 2 and 4 in with 6 and 8 etc. Or if its the 2nd or 4th thursday in the month 1 2 5 6 and 3 4 7 8 etc.

Hi,

Ok lets go for 1 lap qualifing.

The trouble is with having points for qualifing is its more work for me! ohmy.gif

So if some one wants to keep a record of all qualifing times then im happy to have points.

My thoughts on the fixing of cars is if it can be repaired within 5 seconds like popped motor/tyre of rim,
then let the marshall fix it, but if it takes more time driver has to fix it themselves question.gif

Right let me get this straight
. Qualifing its one lap is that from a standing start ?
or are we having an out lap then the hot lap ???


Marshalling ... should be just that marshalling ...!! you never see a marshall with a spanner in his hand at silverstone so why should we be any differnet... ?? its down to the pitcrew (THATS YOU THE DRIVER)to repair the car .The marshall can bring the car to you but can not aid in any way in repairs ... if you cant fix it with out takin the shell of during the race and with out leaving the rostrom then you simply get a D.N.F

i also think we should have SET tools eg pair of side cuts ,tape and glue... left on a table on the rosturm for use of id race repairs ... like they do in touring car when they dash in to the pits with front end damage and out comes the duck tape ..... this may help to might spice up the field a bit

I think that quali should be from a standing start and the lights used that way it brings reaction time into it, and it should be just the 1 lap. biggrin.gif

I also think that the marshals shouldn't do any repairs at all it should be carried out by the driver or no one dry.gif

I don't see a need for a pit table duck! it seems pointless! if u can't repair your car from the rostrum then u should just get a DNF. After all this is only club level thumbsup2.gif

I can see it now - a length of duct tape from behind the driver over the spoiler, to the rear panel - all that extra down force and a pair of side cutters taped to the roof for extra weight.

I`d rather have a flying start then all us old people with slow reactions wouldn`t be half a lap behind.

Can we clean the start line between qualifing runs so that we don`t pick up the oil that has dripped off the previous cars tyres?
