Maybe you should be buying The Turtles all up then!

They sound like future collectables if you hold that view now! :-)

Only get the ones in mint condition mind. ;-)

The big winners in the collector stakes are those who hold the contrarian view. If its junk and cheap buy it. If its quality and expensive don't touch it.

I would rather have 20 Turtle Wagons than one Fly collectable.

I guess the Carrera Schumacher Ferrari F1 is likely to become quite collectable in the future.

The Turtles vs Simpsons comparison seem wrong to me. The Simpsons have been a success for more than a decade. Turtles are nowhere near that.

QUOTE
Just look at 1/24 Scalextric, no one wanted this when new, so much so that Triang had to dump truck loads of the stuff when they moved from Havant to Margate!

It is the truck loads being dumped that is the specific value enhancing factor, not the fact that 'no one wanted it'. That plus the fact that it was also relatively epensive at the time.

If there were still truck loads around, I doubt it would be anywhere near as sought after. In the end, no matter HOW it comes about, an object must become scarce before it can become valuable.

That is a solid point. Add to that someone must want it. What value can you place on anything? Only that which a group of people are willing to pay to obtain it and deny someone else having it.

having said all that you can always collect leaves or something and it won`t cost you a penny biggrin.gif Each to his own!

Protec were Scalextric cars you built as a kit. I think they came with a variety of gears and other bits, so you didnt have to settle for one setup. 'Race tuned' parts and all that.

Models I remember were a BTCC Audi A4 and Vectra.
