Hi Mike,
Alan S has posted this question in a separate thread but he appears to be referring to this meeting. It is my belief that CSCRA rules will apply and these state simply that; Silicone tyres and sponge/foam rubber tyres are not permitted. (Link to CSCRA site at the bottom of this post). Can you confirm that this is the case? Cheers. Mick. Thanks Mick, clearly I still don't understand these new fangled computer things! You are perfectly correct, I was referring to the 2012 Presto Classic. -------------------- Alan Seymour

Hi Alan and Mick. Yes you are correct - silicone and sponge tyres are not eligible for this event.
Ortmans/RS slot tyres ARE ok for the Vintage race on the Saturday. At the moment NSR Ultras and Slot it P6 and F range tyres also work well. Mike |

Hi Mike,
It may be easier if you mandate the use of Slot.it and NSR rubber tyres only, for both the 1/32nd scale classes. With kind regards, Russell -------------------- Russell Sheldon

That's all very well, but it means I'd have to buy a set of tyres for this one event or drop out.

Tyres aren't an issue so long as we can use any make - I'm using 15x8 wheels with Ninco 20x11 tyres on them on my Can Am cars as they look like the tyres used on 1:1 Can Am cars, I don't really want to have to use modern low profile tyres - I'm not going to win whatever wheels or tyres I've got because of a combination of slow cars and (mostly) my driving, so I'd like to be able to just use my cars the same as I use them at home. I've currently got a Carrera Mclaren M20 and a Fly Porsche 917/10, both of which look very nice but aren't very fast - though I am tempted to build a Ferrari 612 on an HRS chassis I've got going spare.
I'm looking forward to the meeting, and well done to Russell for the superb winners prize. -------------------- Manta Mad

Hi Julian. Ninco tyres on the Can Am's will be fine. Just ensure they are glued, trued and well oiled with 3 in 1 before the day. Mike

Hi, Are Ortman tyres ok for the 1/32 vintage class as NSR and Slot it don't make tyres for most vintage rims?
Please also confirm the entry list. -------------------- |

Having read the original rules I would like to post an entry for both clases on the saturday (1/32 & 1/24th Vintage) and also both classes on the Sunday (1/32 Can Am and F1/Indy). I also belive that Graeme Stephenson wishes to enter also for all 4 classes.
Having read through the x amount of pages here it would seem there is some confusion on what tyres are allowed and what are not. I believe that Saturday is to be ortman tyres only? Is this still the case?? It would seem from various comments that the racing on Sunday is a free for all makes of tyres as long as they are not Silicon or Sponge. Is this correct? Also, is pretreating tyres with 3 in 1 only allowed for both days or just for the Sunday. Having had my arse kicked at various meetings over the last few years by not have "the tyre" and "the Vogue Treatment" of the day, it would be good to pin this down as I have no problem making the effort to "get it right", but do not fancy the idea of preparing 4 cars specifically for the event and making a 400 odd mile round trip + hotel, to find that despite the cars being fit for purpose, they are handling like a "bar of soap of a greasy dish". (which is the main reason for me not being proactive in this area of the sport since the "NSR oiled tyre" appeared on the scene). As it is time to "get Building", your confirmations would be much appreciated Best Regards Andy Brown-Searle |
