QUOTE (Edo @ 23 Oct 2009, 15:35) *
Wow Joel,

that one looks like a Middle Age war machine! Quite impressive!

Here another delightful ugly duck thing(ie):

Her dirty secret it's this Mura motor which makes Her fly:

Edo - I believe, I believe!

Rather interesting Mura motor in fact: a Hem-buchi?

They didn't do a lot of can-drive models, if I'm not mistaken, but the Hemi can could explain this one..

Hopefully some better pictures of some of my 1960's builds. Toads with Royal aspirations maybe?

Here is another proper toad.
No disrespect guys, but I think that when it comes to toads, you are all a bit lightweight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy must have read somewhere: "Put some weight on the drop arm", so he put the motor there!!
The drive is clever, 2 ball bearings to make sure it is aligned properly, sadly the motor is not actually bolted down, it sort of lies there in a wobbly piano wire cradle.(I will sort it out one day).

Joel

PS: I hope you appreciate my dedication to this hobby, it takes a lot of bottle to bid on this sort of cr*p.
PPS: Please, feel free to suggest appropriate bodies I could fit on those nice toads.

Hi Guys,
Pre Internet and computer tom foolery, its quite amazeing what us chaps got up to in our sheds!
Very inventive construction techniques amongst the so called 'Toads'.. isn't the one definition 'you can't polish a toad' or have I got the wrong 'T'!!
Regards Bill.

MORE?

Here is a Princess, the lovely lovely Frogette:

Did'nt think She would be fast, but, oh boy, the Frogette can defend herself!

What motor is that, anyway?

Is'nt She delicately made up?

And sophisticatedly dressed?

More?

Very very nice Edo - definitely a good example of the toad/princess paradigm! The front of that body is an Eagle, but I don't recognize the rear, and I love the add-on aerodynamic aids!

The motor is either a KTM or Aristo-Craft, more likely the former. I'm not at home so I can't compare, but those were the two companies that made this type of motor, in addition to Pittman, Strombecker and Ram. And I think they both did a 5-pole; this one looks rewound, which may explain the oomph...

Yes, more!

That's a genetic monster! Did you buy it from a Dr Moreau, Edo?

Is it really an Eagle Don? Where's the join? Screen and engine cover are sort of Lotus 25. Maybe it's had a nose job?
Superb though. Cooling vents expertly cut. Love the spindly chassis. I bet it looked very classy brand new, but now it's the whole animal kingdom from toad to princess inclusive.

Have you thought of a suitable breeding partner for it Kingie?

Dear H,

open wheel Thing(ie)s with aereo add ons and cooling vents expertly cut all over?

There is nothing I would love more than having such breeding partners for Her!

E.

PS Perhaps you could begin producing them immediately after what you still have to finish?

It's no Eagle, it is a John said, a Lotus 25 of which the body was hacked to fit the chassis. This car was built by the same guy who built this one:

Ah, so he just makes a point on each nose? I do kind of remember that series of cars, very interesting. Got a photo of the Harvey's frame Philippe?
