Hello to all members of SlotForum, I am new (obviously) and give my salutations.

I used to do Slot Cars a lot when I was younger (10-15 years ago) and have recently came across, my "Box" of stuff, and have deiced to start doing it again. Now that I am older, I research everything and make sure I know my stuff inside and out. Since its been a while I dont know much.

Anyways so I started researching how to check everything (its been years, so they probably need a tune up), but as I was searching I realized there are a carp load of different styles of slot cars. I know that there are different body, motor, and etc. types, but I didnt realize there way so many different track types as well. So it would be nice if someone could at least point me in the right direction and tell me what track type these cars are, I will post pictures bellow. I know what body/chassis types they are (wing and I think the other one is stock). It would also be nice if someone could point me to a video or article on the ins and outs of how to maintain these cars as well.

Also, sorry if this in the wrong section, but I was told to come here with this, and I will appreciate any advice.

I would appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!

Heres the eye candy:

hy, you would be better of going on to an american forum. i usume your still liveing in florida. the 2 wing cars would run on the blue king tracks over there. join a local club and they will soon bring you up to speed on modern wing car technology. the super 16d car could still run in stock classes, but the motor has to be sealed. john.

If the tyres are 10-15 years old they probably need replacing.
Those motors may need no more than a clean and comm retrue - a drop of oil on the bearings and off you go.

Check out your local raceways and find out what classes they race.
Well worth asking what mods are allowed on the motors. different places have different rules.
No point us in the UK speculating about what they may allow, go ask them.

Yep, you might be better off asking on one of the American forums that cover modern 1/24 slot racing, such as SlotBlog or Old Weird Herald. They will be able to steer you to local tracks, new parts, etc.

There is not much of this type of slot racing going on in Europe, although there is some, in England, Belgium, Germany and some of the Scandinavian and Eastern European countries.

Somebody may have gotten these "wing cars" confused with "Thingies", which generally refer to the 60s era cars, either commercially made like the Classic Manta Ray and Asp, or scratch-built "free form" models - and in a sense the wing cars are descended from these, but still supposedly represent real cars, although barely...

Hope that helps - if you do stay in this forum and get some feedback, I'll probably switch it to the 1/24 category, but don't think we have one specifically for this type of car.

Don

Mike , this is a Worldwide forum , but Wing cars , as you have , are big in USA ! So most of the info about these cars , is better sourced in the States . Zig
