The new Saturday racing class at Scale Models Slot Racing club (Marple) starts on Saturday 2nd June. The track and cars will be available from 10:30 for practice and the first heat is scheduled to start at 12:00. Each heat will be of at least 5 minutes duration, and each driver will race on all 5 of the lanes of the wood track.
If you have never raced on a wood track before don’t worry you will soon get to grips with it. We want everyone to come and have a go this is a wide open race with cars provided. We also supply controllers, feel free to use your own if you have one.
Below are the rules.
Come along have some fun.

Marvin (Peter)

NASCAR Challenge
@Scale Model Slot Racing

1. The race series is open to all and will be run on the first Saturday of the month, in line with Scale Models Open Days.
2. Entry fee to each meeting is £5.00; this is covered with the Open Day entry fee (one £5.00 for the day). Track will be open by 10:30 for practice.
3. Racing will start @ 12:00 and the heats will be a minimum of 5 minutes.
4. All drivers will race on each of the 5 lanes available. Highest number of laps completed will win.
5. Cars dedicated to each lane are available for use by all, if you wish to have your own car in your own livery that is fine as long as they fit the rules below.
6. All Scale Models Slot Racing Club rules apply.

Rules for cars.
1. Cars from the crash and bash sets are ideal for this race. See Mark for a very reasonably priced example.
2. Livery free choice.
3. Motors standard.
4. All running gear as standard out of box, no SlotIt gears.
5. Front axle may be lowered and sleeved, this is the only mod allowed on chassis.
6. Guide may be changed for wood guide. Braids free choice.
7. Tyres can be glued and trued.

These rules will cover the series and will not be subject to any change unless agreed by the majority of people already having at least one race score.

The decision of the race management team (Peter, Eric, Alan and Mark S) will be final in all matters.

Club Cars are ready. These cars have had all the modifications allowed under the rules, including deep guide and gluing and truing of the rear tyres. The front tyres are untouched as yet.
The cars are lane specific; the colour of the car equals the lane it is to be used on.
So there is no reason not to entre if you don’t have a car.

With apologies for picture quality.

My NASCAR challenger.
Scalextric Ford Taurus repaint.

I need to sort out some front and rear lights from vinyl.

Only mods as per the rules are the front axle has been tubed and a Slot It wood track guide fitted

Looking forward to giving it a run on Saturday.

Eric
