Hello all
I have started building my new track. I decided to call it the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I was looking for names and came across the actual Blue Ridge Parkway and decided it fitted with what I wanted for my track.

I looked up 'Parkway' and in the US "the word includes limited-access highways designed for recreational driving of automobiles, with landscaping. These parkways provided scenic routes without very slow or commercial vehicles, at grade intersections, or pedestrian traffic.

Sounded just what I wanted a scenic place for recreation driving of my cars. The Blue Ridge Parkway seems such a lovely place, with some nice scenic elements. As I am also incorporating a model railroad in the room which I might call it the Blue Ridge RR and use some of the scenic elements like the Mabry Mill and the old farm houses,

Here are the some early build shots with my chief router and foreman (dad) smile.gif and a video of a battery powered car doing a lap.
(The car doesn't grip on some of the tighter turns)

Will keep posting updates here

cheers
David

Nice track, a wonderful long straight. I am still trying to understand is this a rally track or a circuit track? I guess is a country road track. In spirit looks like a rally track.
I have to say that those small kinks or S's you have there will be challenging. For me they are after the straight but for you they are before the straight, I guess, is this correct? If this is so, it will be better driving wise.

Yes 4.8m x 1.2

Country road track sounds good rallyp smile.gif I will probably end up wiring the track to run in both directions, but at present my thinking is the S will be before the straight - climb up the hill to the straight.

I did some work on cutting out and playing with elevations this morning.

cheers
David

It is taking form. It makes a big difference when elevations start appearing and the road flow becomes more clear. Looking forward to see more progress.

I did a video before I did the elevations of a battery powered car running around the track
I am not sure why it isn't in my first post

The car is running in the opposite direction to the way I am planning on regularly running it.

I should have added in my previous reply that your tracks have inspired me rallyp so if the track looks a bit like a rally track now you know why. biggrin.gif

In deciding on building this track I looked at your modular rally track a lot, my brother and I talked at length as to whether we built a track like it or a 2 lane road coarse - in the end 2 lanes one out as he wanted to be able to drive the track with me smile.gif

cheers
