Adrian, I was pilloried on this forum many months back about critising you and your companies lack of fighting spirit at the gaydon battle of the brands race. I had posts removed and lots of people basically saying that you knew more about slotcars in your little finger than I could ever know. I would like to apoligise if I had been seen to be a touch disrespectful to you, but I must say that I am very disapointed that someone in your company has let this error get through to production. Especially as people on this forum pointed it out back in January when we first saw the computer generated images. Now some on here can go on about rivet counting and the like but the point is your company got it wrong, in my opinion big time. Not that Hornby and certainly not anyone else on here will proberly care, but up to now I have bought every GT40 your company has made, but I am sorry that I wont be buying this one.
As for the 1966 Daytona cars I can understand why you left the air scoops on as you would have had to change the tooling to fill the scoop mounting holes left, stopping you from doing any more post Daytona MkII's which all had the scoops fitted. -------------------- Love Lobby
If only I had bought that when I first went into the swapmeet! |

I think that Adrian (or who ever let P1049 pass as a MKII) like all of us are only human and we all make mistakes. NSR, Slot it, Scalextric, Fly have never got the GT40 correct. Basically because of costs and retooling. And probably the time and costs of research. Adrian would probably agree that a slotcar Manufacturers Holy grail would be a slotcar with infinate liveries but one bodyshape! At least NSR has not got a Naca duct in front of the windscreen on its MKII's. This was a dead giveaway as a MKI.
So when I go on one of my detailed rants its not for the sake of it; but more that I expect higher standards of accuracy on modern slotcars than in the past. Also when people ask me for pictures of GT40's I have to refer them to books or other sources because even in this internet age there is such a thing as copyright! One of my main internet sources the Nevada Shelby site has vanished. There is only one model of the MKII that would be accurate. Unfortunately it s a Fujimi kit plastic kit that has to be adapted for slotracing and the other problem is it scale of 1/24th! Lobsterboy the other thing about the 1966 Daytona MKII cars were that they were bottoming on the banking and the top of the wheel arch on the drivers side on number 95 (see Dougs picture) you can see the humped patch that was applied to stop the tyres from rubbing the bodywork. I was wondering if any of you bought this car and also found it beneath normal Scalextric standards?
I have seen examples from this item with fingerprints in the painting and badly put together. And all examples i saw have a bent clear cover on the back (between the snorkels). I also heard shops did send them back because they were to bad to sell. |

I went to a slotraceshop last saturday for this car but the guy told me he sent back all of these GT40´s because of a wrong combination of old and new type braid holder (Sorry, I don't know the right word in English). He said the braid becomes loose all the time. Does anybody knows or heard about this?
