The key thing is round tyres, the stock ones aren't great so I changed them. Also ensure the gear mesh is perfect, worth spending time on that. Get the fronts trued down to quite a low profile, ensure the guide moves vertically and rotates without impediment. Softer braids. Then add some weight in the middle of the chassis. Run the body loose.

I replaced the rear tyres with soft urethane tyres and loosened the body to allow it to flot and that was it. The result was it's one of the fastest cars I have around my wood track, a fantastic piece of kit!

I put 20x12x5 sized rear tyres on my one (the same tyre fit as many slot.it's) and they work well.

I got my ones from Paul Gage in Canada, but there are lots of other sellers of similar tyres including Wayne Allen who makes WASP tyres in urethane which are also very good. Not sure if any of them are site sponsors though, but you can send me a message if you want to get a link to the sites I got them from.
