Please note that 'Collectors Corner' has evolved to acknowledge the growing interest in the history of, technical know how behind and the racing of Vintage Slot Cars and the paraphanalia that went with them.
We hope this will generate a plethora of new information, knowledge and eye candy to SlotForum. In the same way that Edo manages the 'thingie' area, I am proud to announce that Don Siegel (Dgersh) will moderate and guide this new area. I will let him tell you what's in store Enjoy and thanks Don. -------------------- QUOTE " Life isn't about how many breaths you take, it is about how many moments take your breath away." |

Congratulations to Don on his promotion and I can't wait to see how the modified forum developes.
Further ennoblement for the Don surely can't be too far away? A dukedom would add a nice touch of alliteration to the proceedings ... All in favour raise your hand now! Lowrider. |

Or how about the Viscount of Vintage?
Well, I'm open to suggestions... I will soon be sharing a Mission Statement with all of you; in case you've been having trouble falling asleep, this should help. Thanks for the vote of confidence Allan, and Doug. Don |

How's about the Count of Cox, or the Meister of Monogram, or better yet the Earl of Eldon.
Yeah... See you soon, Brad |

We would like to extend Our compliments to Sir Don, Viscount of Vintage,
by welcoming Him to the duties (and the privileges) of the newly acquired title. May We remind You, Sir Don, that such duties imply the daily production AND publication of a consistent number of articles AND photographs depicting parts, better yet, of ALL your wonderful vintage collection's noble pieces. We are therefore counting on You to fullfill your duties starting now. EtK. -------------------- |

Damn, did I forget to mention the demands Edo would make once he saw an opening into the darker corners of your collection cupboards?

QUOTE I will soon be sharing a Mission Statement with all of you... Ooh, do you have to? Mission Statements are pet hate of mine. Sorry, another pet hate of mine. Hmmm, maybe I should have posted this in the Grumps section. -------------------- Establish whether the fault lies with the car, controller, or powerbase input. Me too, Wank, me too.... How about a slot racing playmate instead? 1963, so she's genuinely vintage!

Self-editing posters - now that's what We like to see!
But be careful, or I'm going to actually subject you to my Mission Statement! Don "Growing More Vintage by the Minute" |

Yeah, I sometimes know when to keep my mouth shut!
I have an idea for the new Vintage area. There have recently been questions about identifying certain cars, so why not have some Monogram/Cox/Tamiya/etc. threads with some pictures of examples of cars. No, we wouldn't need all of the color variations, but some insight as to what was available and what they looked like might be interesting. I know I enjoyed the factory Thingie thread with pictures of the cars. Thoughts? Brad |

By way of an introduction....
Rather than the dreaded Mission Statement (wherein we leverage our core competencies, missionize our customer-centric bottom line, etc.), I thought I would introduce you to my friend, Adrienne Moreau, better known as Miss March (1963)... ![]() This is just one of the themes of my slot car collection, ie, slot-related articles in the general press, and since I've been doing this off and on since about 1962, when I was 10 years old, I thought I could help out with the vintage scene on SlotForum. I've probably got one of the bigger collections of slot car literature in the world, including all the major US and UK magazines from the 50s to the present, most of the books, etc. So if there's anything you'd like to know, and it's in my files, feel free to ask! As for my "areas of expertise" (whoops, sorry, jargon alert!), I raced from about 1963 to 1968 (pre-anglewinder), then again in 1974-75 and starting again from 1992 to the present. So I'm pretty conversant with the "classic" era, but have large holes in my knowledge of the later pro era; I also tend to like the odder brands, ie, more MRRC than Scalextric, etc, and definitely don't know the 20 color variations of any Scalex model, nor too much about any real car after 1968, but I'm counting on a little help from my friends! I always figured I was a typical slot racing baby boomer, at least USA style, since I raced HO, 1/32 and 1/24, at home and in raceways and in clubs.... Not the best driver around, but not the worst either..... And I know how to solder, and paint a clear plastic body, but definitely not Concours material... Plus, I've lived about half my life in the States, and half in Yerp... What I do like is slot racing in just about all its forms, and especially vintage stuff, so let's see what we can do here. I'll try to be showing you some of my collection, and I like Brad's idea of working up a photo list of each manufacturer: go for it Brad! (ask my secretary to set up a phone appointment...). Welcome to Vintage! Don |

Looks like a model train transformer with rheostat used for control... and a Strombecker Austin-Healey model kit made into a slot car?! Heavens!
Strombecker track too? Now let's get serious. What's her phone number? Wait! She's married now and a great-grand mother... -------------------- TSRF = Truly Superior Racing Fun
