Just a short resumeé of this autumn's racing in our GTR class.
Rules are fairly simple. • Narrow S1's, 44mm between rear axle and the Ø8mm magnet, "light magna" and max 60mm width. • If possible using the "swiss system" for heat grids. (Ie when eight or more drivers.) As can be seen there's a lot of Ninco in the field. Just that odd Fly BMW. The two main contestants are Pär (Borgis) and Erik (me, Ghost) . Both driving outdated Ninco's with NC2. Pär an "Oase" Mercedes and Erik a Jägermeister Alfa. We are still holding our own (starting grid as per total points). But Lars "Red Bull" BMW and also the "Advan" BMW of Thomas is starting to threaten us. No picture from round three. Pär still holding the front and Erik trying out a Scalextric (lo'n behold!). The Ninco Meganés begin to crop up as more or less unbeatable cars. But oldest is still eldest (a swedish expression; meaning you don't easily oust cunning old men from power). Did I really run a Scalextric? No, not really. To make it work anything close to acceptable I had the guide system cleaned out and replaced with a Ninco spring guide... It still doesn't hang out sufficiently thou. The black Calibra, driven by Lasse, is now replaced with a McLaren. How it comes it is allowed? By replacing the axles to come down within 60mm... Further on this 60mm will be the body itself. Along these same lines Erik is contemplating running a Fly Marcos... The Meganés has been demed "udeemed" and "unsportmanshiplike" and doesn't show up. No, not as per the rules per se, but withdrawn for the time being by those racing them. Last race. The McLaren is again switced for a Calibra, now sporting a "NC-T" (the boxer motor from a seriously cheap electric toothbrush...). Gets a bit wild... Erik's Alfa is geared very low, to become a "Megané killer". But no such in sight... It's really great to see that these simple rules bear fruit in a points standing that is still an open matter with three rounds left. /Erik |
