Hey Guys, I've had my arm bent & ear chewed off by ian long enough now that I've finally relented and entered slot it challange & Pony Wars.

The biggest problem we all have is lack of practise on a big track to set cars up for competition, so with that in mind and the prospect of hosting similar events to fund raise we should spend some time on getting the big track running.
Ian believes the tape maybe in poor condition......if we seek permission from Moe is anyone up to spending an evening or some weekend time to inspect & repair?????? we can discuss this with Moe/steve at thursday.....come on guys, club spirit etc etc, horray, jolly hockey throttles!!!!!! smile.gif

Peter,
If only it was closer I'd be up for it, If only it was a year ago I may have changed my plans, unfortunately, and I don't want to be a wet blanket on what is an admirable plan, I simply don't have the time. The only way I can think to help out would be week fourteen; I would be up for spending a night repairing big G instead of racing. Then it would take a life time to clean it, as it will be covered in dust (to put it politely) even then it would need to be used to get it to rubbered in.

However I do know that the youngsters there are also keen to have a blast on the track so hopefully they'd be interested as they live local they are likely to be available?

Logically what you have said makes sense, I'd love to see the track in use that's what it’s meant for! I even considered changing my slot night to Tuesdays to see if we could get Slot.it night, we could have also run things like the Clio cup etc like other clubs do but at the time we just didn’t have the membership. Unfortunately I have other plans now which are closer to home... However the club is growing and perhaps this may appeal to the newer members?

As for running events we’d need to get the club prospering first, we lack a lot of the facilities and space that the major clubs have, I feel it would need lots of work to get to that stage. As you’ll see for yourself over the next few months.

On a personal note I’d have loved to have run on big-G 52 weeks a year instead of Little-G but I know that will never happen.

All that said I wish you all the best, I hope it all works out for you all, and I’ll support you all as much as I possibly can on our normal Thursday nights until I eventually move to South Lincs

Count me in Pete...I'll lend a willing hand as long as it mean no lifting at the moment!!! smile.gif Week nights would be better for me coming straight from work, but if it's a weekend I'll see what I can do.

It's a real shame that track isn't used, I don't know the story behind it, but it's a waste. Any chance to practice on a big track would be worth it.

On the Slot. It challenge Pete...for Pinewood anyway. I have a room booked already so your more than welcome to take the spare bed...pretty sure I booked a twin!!!! I'll check that if you want.

OK Guys,

lets hae more details about the "after hours" shinanigans.

How wa the Big G track, what cars did you run, how did they go etc etc ??.

Loads of orders in to Pendles for smaller spur gears or larger pinions, OR what ??.

Are we going to have a Slotit challenge, or not ??.

Yes I had to leave early, but sorr bowt that.

vbr Chris.

Big track was in good condition, very dusty but looks like it will quickly clean up, NSr ultras worked well but Dave had some P6's (????) that seemed to do the business.
Chris, a slot it challange or something would be a good idea...I would like to run the trucks!!! The spirit peugeots seemed to run well.
I shall work on my slot it entry over the week and give it a go next week.
Cheers, Peter

Chris the track was cracking! Tape up in a few places but didnt stop all four lanes running pretty well for 45 mins or so while i was there. Its a great track. I asked mo about the possibility of letting it be used 'out of hours' for any interested parties. We all need to chat about it. Slot it cars went well!

Dave, Dave, Dave...are you seriously telling me about forgetting things??? Seems you managed to forget the corner at the end of the straight every 5-6 seconds mate!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Anyway, back to the track. Pretty impressed really, it's not just the full throttle all out speed I was expecting, there's some surprising technical sections on it. As everyone says, in good conditions and probably would be even better with a rag and some petrol. I'm definitely up for a 'slot.it challenge' type race and like the trucks idea Pete.

Comparing it to Pendles (which is the only other big track I had a go on) it's not that far off, if not slightly better. Would definitely give us a helping hand with car set up for the challenge anyway. Moe seemed quite positive about opening it up for some out of hours play time, as long as enough people turned up to cover electric costs etc.
