1111SW - Ford MK II GT40 - #4 24h Le Mans 1966

Raced at Le Mans in 1966 by Mark Donohue and Paul Hawkins. The team retired with a damaged transmission after twelve laps.

Available this month from your favourite slot shop.

Ford GT40 comes in sidewinder setup. The motor is Shark 20k which has 20000 rpm @ 12 Volts 164 gr/cm.

Now you may have an opinion on the paint scheme. I looked around a little and found this:

I am not sure if the copper colour is 100% right. Other models from other companies have been released in a more bronze-like colour. Anyone have any thought on this?

You are right the bronze colour does not look quite right, but very difficult to judge from available photos.

But what there is no debate over is the bonnet detail, fuel cap colour, positioning and size of the numbers, lack of sun strip..

Or the Gurney Bubble...

Good job they put a number 4 on, else we would be hard pushed to know which car it is meant to represent.... smile.gif

Boy, am I excited and maybe someone will show like originality and intorduce yet another Audi R18. Its a shame all the cars of all the races have been done and now er have to introduce them all over again. The last I checked the Ford GT 40 raced in a field of cars--where are they? My two cents

Lovely model. I wonder, how easy would it be to fit lights? All the lenses seem to be in place, so i suspect fitting lights can be an easy job on this NSR car. Anyone experience with fitting lights in NSR cars?

I like it!

Merc - Plenty of space under the shell for a light kit. Just be careful of how you drill the holes for the led. Build up to the final hole size and use a clear adhesive (UHU or similar) for the LEDs.

I don't understand why NSR uptill now had all 1966 FORD GTs in pré-race colours without the added colouring and now this one they add the green. sad.gif
It would have been nice to have them all the same way.

As Scalextric, Fly, Slot.it all have the race colour scheme I thought it was a clever move from NSR not to do so.
