Glad to see you are "getting a move on " with this - LOL
The autostrada looks a bit short for getting all three Minis in the back of the coach though. Kind regards, Leo |

Glad to see you are "getting a move on " with this - LOL The autostrada looks a bit short for getting all three Minis in the back of the coach though. Shouldn't that be "a bloomin' move on" I wasn't really thinking of attempting getting the mini's in the back of the bus...The circuit is not just for show and will have a timing system so you can race...just wanted a bit of a theme and some interesting features.. Yep it may take some time to build but with two young kids and a vintage bus, any time I can get on the circuit is a bonus. I intend to get the track up and running this winter and the scenery will evolve as and when, but boy is the planning fun...Any turin advice gratefully recieved |

Ah so it was you who posted that on you tube...excellent. I've painted the bus I've got but messed up the cream stripe (bleed around the masking tape) but it is too small scale to put the T-jet mini's in...I might scratch build one for the hell of it but that will be along way down the line, although is there a .jpg around some where of a 1:32 harrington card kit. I could always reduce it by 50%.

There was a chap on here who had the idea to build the Legionnaire as a static feature and have the cars running right through it. Sadly (!) he seems to have entered the phase of life where women are more interesting than slot cars - he''l be back eventually - LOL. I have a jpg of the side view of a Legionnaire 1:32 with dimensions. PM me an email address and will send it.

So far it looks great and the track of inspiration is amazing. But in regards to the rectifier that let's you run two cars per track, it is a great idea. I have built an HO track that uses the AC2 platform. It works great but the little cars are really hard to get the diodes into. It really takes some time and effort to add the diodes to any car with regular AFX, t-jet style pickups. Of course the cars such as older riggens or dyna-brutes are really easy because of the wires from pickup to motor. I built the track which is a modified figure 8 with two tracks all the way around and a switch on both tracks, like AC2, so both cars can run on either side and switch each lap. It works great but the little cars are just too hard to work on for me so I went 1:32 and built a new rally track with one and a half lanes and it works great too, and the cars are so much easier to work on. Just my two sense. Oh yea. My HO track is 3x5 and the the 1:32 is 2.5x9 feet that is. Good luck either way. Lap time for both are around 8 second and I only run non-mag.

A bit of an update. Recieved a few more bits of track yesterday so I have been able to complete the mock up of the Col de Grand St Bernard. What do you think. Any suggestions gratefully recieved. There will be a tunnel up there somewhere for the lambo to be destroyed in. Still waiting for a few bits of specialist track (turn off's) to help with the construction of Turin. It's going to be tight to get the buildings I want to get in without it looking too overcrowded.
Have recieved a few parcels from the States and am waiting for a couple more...but I'll save these for a suprise on a further post. ![]()

Well I have been stuck in on my day off waiting for a parcel delivery (not slot car related unfortunately) so have been having a play about with buildings...firstly have purchased the following..
![]() Which should help with construction with some of the more specific Turin buildings specific to some scenes in the film. Have also bought a CD Rom from Ebay with printouts of buildings. These will be used to guage scale of buildings and to help with mock ups prior to building in plastic card. So I did a quick scale mock up of Piazza Castello (when the mini's go through the shopping/ dining area's) and came up with this ![]() I know that it shouldn't be brick etc but this is just used to judge scale, height of building etc and to see if it dwarfs the circuit (which it doesn't)...so I have a basic shape to start to work from. Below is what Piazza Castello looks like (with a rather appropriate aston in front!!) ![]() |

A small package arrived from the states today and whilst not Italian job related I've always wanted one for the circuit, so painted some details on the bare resin body and put some 356 vincents wheels on a T-jet Chassis and Voila..

Well I thought I'd get the alpine section electrified tonight just to see how it runs so did a little loop where turin starts...only got one lane working as the second lane has a short circuit somewhere so need to clean every contact but that's a job for another day...Used the faller power supply and plungers so things should improve when I put in power taps and get a decent power supply and controllers.....anyway took a little video to show you all. The T-jets need a bit of tuning as they are fresh out of the box but they slide and spin out on hairpins so they take a bit of driving but that's exactly what I want.
If you have any comments or suggestions on improving the alpine section they would be gratefully recieved http://www.flickr.com/photos/yakboyuk/6238305705/ |
