Seat Leon
One careful (and slow) driver Bodywork in good condition ![]() Chassis slightly damaged ![]() This is really all I needed, can't afford a new car yet and i was hoping it would last a month or two My only alternate at the minute is ![]() Another SCX Seat (or Fiat as it was in this country) ![]() A 30 second job to change the motor cradle and we're all good to go Just one problem, it's a rally car, as it's only 2wd is that a problem (I'll remove the co-driver if you like) -------------------- |

Don't know what happened or how it happened, I dropped what appeared to be a good chassis, about 1 or 2 feet to the carpeted floor and when I picked it up it was like that. I can only presume there must have been a crack in it from last night that I didn't notice.

And a few hours and a bottle of super glue later, it's fixed; whether it holds is a different matter, but until it breaks it has given me the chance to try something out... I've completely removed all the contact plates and put a "proper" guide in, well a Ninco guide anyway, so I had to glue a new guide hole in place first, that is the bit I don't think will hold, once the cars together the chassis should be braced a little by the body whereas the guide is under quite a bit of pressure. It certainly sits closer to the chassis so should handle better if it lasts long enough to find out

For what it's worth, I would recommend using Super Glue only to hold everything together for the actual gluing *grin* From the little I've seen in your pics, I think it could be wise to reinforce all your joints with some 2 part epoxy, aradite etc, making sure that the epoxy is spread wide enough that it is contacting the plastic chassis, not simply gluing to the Super Glue that is already in place. It wouldn't hurt to use epoxy to reinforce around your guide flag tower either (a little vaseline on the guide flag post first so nothing freezes in place). Just a thought...it sounds like you are in good hands already at your club.
Also, the failure looks like it was caused by long-term flexing not by a a sudden impact which also indicates the need for a little reinforcement. best regards, John |

If I decide it is worth repairing properly, then I had intended to use something stronger, but until I know it's worthwhile doing, I'm not going out and getting the stuff
I've braced it for now with weights ![]() Although three might be too many ![]() Me and DIY aren't a good mix but it looks half reasonable from underneath...for now -------------------- |

A drop or two of glue between/around the anti-lightness stuff and job is good to go! Looks neat enough to me Paul.

quite right Pasiro
the fine line is clearly visible though on your car it is right between the glued repair and the modified guide fixing -------------------- ![]() ![]() |
