Now then, is MacInstall Martin D?

I do of course remember Malcolm Sinclair. When the Newcastle Club lost their premises in Fenham, myself and Fred Cameron moved to the Sunderland Club.

John Potter was the secretary and Graeme Scott from Grangetown I also remember.

Mike Hingley is the right name, he used to come along with his wife who I think was called Rosemary.

Is that the Barbara who went off to be a nun, or that is what she told me, desperate measure just to get away from me.

I have an old photo of one corner of the Sunderland track with me an' me long hair, Fred Cameron's left arm and John Potter's right shoulder (exciting eh?).

No idea how to upload it but try this link

This is indeed the same Martin D. Barbara did not run away to be a nun, and she is married and living in Norfolk with her husband and three children. She is Head of Classics at a large school there. Se contacted me to get information about my late father who had a long affair with her aunt, married her and then died ...

I have also posted on here under Bexhill Slot Cars but have lost my password. I took early retirement form teaching at 53 (those were the days when you could retire young enough to enjoy life), ran a pub for a couple of years with my second wife and then we decided to give it all up and move to Cyprus, where we have been for the last six months. Despite the well-publicised problems of the Cypriot economy, it is a marvellous place to live - especially if your income and capital is offshore and in Sterling.

What memories ... it makes me feel as if it was all yesterday.
