I've never seen the second version of the Cheetah before. I quite like it. The original shape is an ugly SOB in my opinion. The Porsche of course looks really well executed.

Lovely cars Doug.
I think the silver Cheetah is the pick of the bunch.
Cheers

QUOTE (Doug @ 12 Dec 2011, 17:57) *

I really like the look of that. It's simple and elegant. I hope the reviews will be a bit more positive than certain other recent MRRC reviews on here. It'd be a shame if such a downright pleasant looking model really sucked on the track.

After what seems like a years-long wait (I suppose that's because it has been!) for the Cheetah I'm hating myself for even thinking this but...I'm not sure it's been worth it. Of course photos are nothing like seeing something in the flesh but the finish isn't inspiring me at all. I hope it is just the lighting but the panel lines could be a lot sharper, a little more laquer/sheen/gloss would be appreciated and the headlamp covers look a bit thrown on. Overall this has a toylike quality that I'm disappointed by. I haven't looked for any scale mistakes (I'm not enslaved to scale accuracy so I probably won't anyway) but I'm sure this could have been made to look more like the real thing. I really hoped to be proven wrong when I see one for myself.

Eagerly awaiting to have scorn thrown at me by the bucket load!

Finaly, they are here. Must have. good looking.
The sebring chassis is ok, the only thing a HATE are the motor with no brakes. When are sombody gonna make a decent ff motor?? Have heard a rumor that Pioner is gonna release a motor?

Regarding the comment questioning sheen/fit&finish (and I acknowledge you mentioned it's tricky with a photograph, to which I agree), my assessment (based on sitting here looking at my new Porsche 911) is that MRRC has set a new standard in finish that it looks quite realistic instead of that super-shiny acrylic fake toy look.

About the shut lines...comparing a (glossy!) Scalex MGB to the Porsche, clearly the whole approach is different. The Scalex lines are narrow and tight, with virtually no radius at the intersection/transition to flat. The MRRC has wider lines and more of a progressive "roundover" at the transition. I think it's all in the eye of the beholder, both work for me. It's easier to miss the MGB's lines altogether, whereas with the Porsche you tend to notice them in any light.

Hope this helps,
John

That Cheetah, the 1:1, is a real love-it-or-loath-it Marmite car.

To me, it's the ugliest thing on four wheels. Looking like something a twelve year old obsessed with 70s Hot Wheels drew on the back of a school book.

The MRRC model will surely please many, mind.

Oh, I like Marmite.

This is only a photoshopped picture, it's not what the model actually looks like. C'mon guys, don't react to a superfical 2-dimensional image. It's not the real model!

The real thing looks much better and it represents the 1:1 car pretty well.

It's just a pity that Sebring chassis dominates all MRRC production at the moment. It has so much potential, but MRRC have never developed their ideas to reach the potential. The guide only sits 3mm in the slot, the tyres are rock hard and almost no-grip. My chassis snapped after removing the rear axle and popping it back in again, and the gearing is not the right ratio to encourage braking dynamics. Worst of all is that hardly anyone stocks any pinions and axlegears for the offset Sebring chassis. If anything break the whole car is useless.

Looks 10/10

Chassis and running gear 5/10

Shimming the guide is easy and to run a normal crown, you just need to shim the rear of the motor up a mm. And MRRC's slim can seems to be the best of the bunch IMO.

Any chance of some photos, or maybe tell us what it runs like?
Cheers,
Tom.
