Just to say the final outcome from the Winter series is on the web site.

As usual the full scores and picks are at the page bottom while the final championship points with one round dropped from anyone who did every round. You will also find the raw spreadsheet file which you can download, to save you the trouble I can tell you it shows I know even less about spreadsheets that I do about slot cars.

Mr T was the champion from Jim who missed three rounds and we had a welcome return to the fray for Rubens who finished a strong 3rd.

Looking at the clubman results I see PJ and Nick finished equal 3rd on 56 points - Not sure if we have equal finishers or it is sorted in another way, for instance Nick missed more rounds that PJ so to my mind that gives Nick the Bronze potty. Well done to Robin for his 2nd place.

The site also features another sad feature - series outcomes archived back to the beginning of 2005. The most sad thing about that is not that people look at the archive but that I know that they look at them.

Of the three clubs at Bolwextric this is my favourite. Picking cars from Bolwextric stock and also reverse direction running gives carlite bods like me a chance not to come last. Roll on the start of the next series on March 21st - YES!

The new Spring series kicked off with a range of interesting and entertaining racing. This night was run in reverse direction with Tony picking Scalee F1s', which for this series are run on 9 volts, for the 1 class. This made for some very close racing, Jim edged into a early lead with 27, with Robin snapping at his heals on 26 which gave both classes a target to catch for the rest of the night.

Nick picked the gruff and snappy NSXs' and then caught a massive dose of the "Pickers Curse" scoring just 10. The leaders hung on to their leads with most of the Clubmans' clustered in the mid 40s'.

I got some stick for picking the D Types, these are a tricky and variable bunch, the 2 "red" cars are clearly the quickest but Jim's 4 wins proved "It's not what you have got, but rather what you do with it". I did well and for a short time found myself 3rd overall and leading the clubmans. Ruben amazed us all when hard charging for the lead in the white lane somehow smacked headlong into the pit barrier on the inside (remember, this is reverse direction).

PJ picked Escorts and then Wez DTM Mercs, Jim just romped off to cement his victory while in the Clubmans several of us couldn't stop Robin grabbing top honours. Roll on the next round. RESULTS SO FAR

The trouble with these Chinese slotcars is that you get one, and an hour later you fancy another one.

Round 2
Tony got first pick, Scalee F1s' on 9 volts and he took the lead with 34 well clear of Jim's 26 which included a rare "1", Robin took charge of the CLubmans with 23.
Nick's pick, NC1 Cleo, caught him the curse with 5 "1s'", Jim and Rubens started to real Tony in as all thre of them got two wins. Somehow I managed 2 wins to bring me just a point behind Robin.
PJ picked Escorts', I started with a win and Robin's luck failed so I jumped to an 8 point advantage in the Clubmans, Jim got 3 wins and Tony none and so closed to within a point. At the bottom it was PJ, Wez and Nick on 45, 44 and 43 respectively.
After the break, Rubens went for the Accords, but they became his worst class of the night as he scored just 14, meanwhile Jim passed 2 points clear of Tony and the battle of the night was set up. I set my Accords to Ambulance mode and won nothing but extended my lead in the Clubmans', Wez had a win and 2 seconds to cruise clear of the bottom order.
I had the last pick, NC2 DTM, which for me worked well enough to get me the Cubmans on the night from Robin. Five wins for Tony bought him level on points to Jim, 151, and it needed counting back to most 3rd places to give Jim the slenderest of victories.
Look at the results so far and you will see this series has started off closely. Jim is creeping away from Tony 28 to 24 with Rubens on 20. The Clubmans could not be more close, Robin and I both on 26 and Wez and Nick both on 17 with PJ on 14.

I would love to race in the next round which will reverse direction but sadly cannot, but I am sure others will.

Results updated
With 5 rounds to go, Jim is edging away up top, while Robin is maintaining a slender lead in the Clubmans.

QUESTION: What was the racing direction for round 3?

With just 7 racers for R5 we did away with the white lane and ran an extra class, sounds like a bodge but it all worked jolly well with some interesting racing.

Keith picked Puntos for the first class and Jim scored a full 30 marks followed by Keith and Wez, this was pretty much how it worked out all evening. I was last on 14.
Nick picked Hornby F1, which we ran on reduced voltage, this proved some very even racing, Jim out front with the rest of us all scoring around 19.
SCX GT was Jim's choice, again very even with every one clustered around 21 except Nick who had the evenings worst score of 13.
Locktite went for the popular Accords, every one said this would be a gift to me, but my poor form continued.
After the stable Accords I thought we should have some aggravation and so picked Cortinas, these are a mottly bunch, I wasn't expecting much but it was an entertaining round, which included some dramatic offs and someone (can't remember who) completed a full roll off the barrier at the beginning of the start straight and dropped back into the correct slot to continue racing. Once the dust had settled I had managed to score 23 to win the class tied with Wez. This was enough to wrench me of the bottom of the score board.
Wez chose SCX 360s for the bonus round, again everyone scored around 20 except for my 15.
Man of the night for me was Wez who finished in a strong 3rd place.

In the championship Jim looks to be riding off into the sunset with the cup under his arm. Things are much more interesting in the clubman class, at this stage I have a slender lead with Wez and Robin just behind, but if you want to win some money - go for Keith with 3 rounds still to go and a win in the last 3 rounds he has to be the hot tip.

Bolwextric Cars Racing round 6 results updated

Bolwextric Cars Round 6
Just 5 racers so we used 4 lanes and got to chose 2 classes each making 10 changes of cars which are under the results on the web page.

With Jim and a bunch of Clubman the proceedings turned into a Moy's Master Class with Jim showing how to squeeze the max out of an indifferent car, meanwhile the rest of us battled to and fro to sort out the rest of the podium. In the end Jim was supported by Keith and Wez but it could have gone anyway to the very end. I came nearly last but learned a lot and enjoyed every minute.

Trouble seeing up to date web pages? See this post.

The last 3 rounds have been held in forwards direction, what the chances of a direction change for the next round?

That will need Tony's input. I've tried to change it before without success.

Bolwextric Spring Championship R8 scores and final series results.

We started by welcoming a new racer, Richard. He had graduated from the Bolwextric Youth club and showed some sensible racing with flashes of pace, with a bit more experience I can see him doing well.
For the final round we had enough runners for 6 lanes and Jim started things with his pick of Saxos', which ended with Reuben, Keith and Jim all on 27.
Reuben went for Pro Trucks but they proved a curse for him as he crashed to a 17 and last in class, Jim was well clear on 29 with everyone else clustered around 20.
Nick's eye was taken by the Pajaro and caravan combinations and so we were all off on holiday, Jim started off with a win and looked set for yet another win but when the dust had settled and the vans were all parked up and covered for the winter it turned out I had won the class comfortably on 27 all without winning a single race. Nick treated us to a master class in single wheeled van cornering using the barriers as a prop, try feeding the awning into one of those - now that would be a challenge.
Keith and Wez had spent an afternoon servicing some of the high mileage Bolwextric sets, and so they ended by picking the revived Healeys and then Scalee Muscle, these provided some excellent racing, the Healey racing was very close but despite some good work by Kieth, Jim finished the evening with a 133, by far the best class total of the night.
The final outcome was Jim, who else, with Keith his only real challenge, Wez and I continued our scrap, we were close all evening but it was Wez that ending on the bottom step of the podium.

Jim's full house of wins guaranteed him the Championship, followed by Keith and Wez, congratulations to them. In the Clubmans' Keith was victorious and I managed runner up as Wez lost 8 points having done every round which dropped him to third. Well done to Nick for 4th followed by Robin and PJ.

Next Championship starts on August 8th, Tony should be racing again so lets hope he and others can give Jim a run for his money. In the Clubmans' we will say goodbye to Keith and that leaves it wide open, should be interesting.
