It is great regret that Burnt Oak have been forced to move from our long-time venue (26 years), by the narrow-minded "suits" that reside in Barnet Council.
Basically, they wanted to raise the combined rent for all the local clubs that use the hall to a staggering £15,000 per year. Yeah, thanks guys! As you can imagine, groups such as ourselves, mums and toddlers, yoga classes etc etc cannot possibly meet such a steep increase in payments. We have a sneaky feeling that it was simply an underhand way of closing the halls down and selling them off to build flats/houses or whatever. Anyway, after much searching we narrowed it down to a couple of new venues, but one of them has really bent over backward to give us a home. So we are moving to Nascot Wood (Nascot Wood School), part of Watford, Herts. AND a local councillor secured a small grant to help us out too! Our last race at Burnt Oak will be this Wednesday (1st February) where we will go out with a bang racing Classic Sports Cars (mainly Group C Slot.It if you want to be on the pace). Hopefully our first meeting at Nascot Wood will be FRIDAY 10th FEBRUARY. This will be for touring cars. Once we're in and have found our feet, we'll have a prize giving night to crown the last champion of Burnt Oak and also work out when we can hold our round of the Champions League. We're also going to try and revive a novice championship (which used to be fiercely fought at Burnt Oak) and probably use standard Slot.It Group C cars for that. Also - this will give us a chance to run our track at the school's Summer and Christmas Fairs, which will hopefully keep attracting new members. Other forms of advertising are also in place. Our new web site is now here: NASCOT WOOD It's not quite finished yet, but all the main details are there. ABBO |

Cheers!
Plus with the extra space, hopefully we can extend the track a bit... or a lot... M |

Hi Abbo, That's great for you guys. Good move to the school - you may find there will be quite a bit of interest so you may be able to run a Junior Club also. Good Luck. Mike (Presto Park)

glad you've found alternative location. You have got to run an after school club once a week, too much of an ideal opportunity to miss.

Marc,
As ever a stirling job on the new website. Some good ideas in the last 2 posts, maybe we should look at an early evening juniors on some Fridays. I certainly would come along with young Beth. It would need to be run with scaly cars with magnets i feel. Last night at Burnt Oak Wednesday then Dave |

Hi Mark. I have deleted the Burnt Oak entry from the Slot Car Map and added a new entry for Nascot Wood.

Current works are not yet completed so the Burnt Oak Club will NOT be moving this week and Nascot Wood will not open on Feb 10th as previously published.
Thanks for all the good wishes, we will confirm the moving details as soon as we can. Regards Alan |

Thanks david for the update on the map.
Yes, after we inspected the premises today, it seems that Burnt Oak will have two more weeks life left in it Still, from what we saw at Nascot, it all seems very good and it's really only minor things to finish. Once again thanks to all the good luck messages and I really think this is going to be a good move! Marc |
