I am pretty sure Dave means being able to pause the race then Re-ID the car/s then be able to resume the race from where you paused it from

Correct. You have to pause the race to ID the car(s). But you can do it anytime you want.

If I know Dave he wont be able to relax until he introduces a single speed pace car, then secondly calibrated recorded cars, and finally a safety car. smile.gif

In my head the road map looks basically exactly this... Not saying it's going to happen, but once something gets in my little brain I tend to have to do it to get it out and make room for other things.

Thanks, John, that's the kind of stuff I like to read. It's hard to tell just from a list of features. My brain tends to go numb when reading down a list of stuff like that. ;-)
I wish I could test out RC, but I've still got my PB-Pro on my track. As soon as I get my APB installed, I'll be testing this out, along with all the other options coming out for the new base.

No worries Mr Flippant, i am sure when you change your APB you will enjoy your extra options, as i was like you 12 months ago loving running my PB-ProSH but have since made the change to APB and loving the extra features

Cheers John

Presumably Pause the Race & remove the cars from the track? Then you can ID the car that for some reason needs ID'ing during the race, and then return the cars to the track?

Not sure this is a feature I would shout about? Anyone running a serious race will have a second Powerbase.

Went to have another quick play with RCD last night and of course it has timed out. Can I sugest you release a lap limited rather than time limited trial?

In race Id'ing is really for races that have more than 6 drivers in them. The ID's will have to be shared between the drivers and depending on your racing format the same driver could end up with a different ID if they are on the track, then off, then back on. This is probably uncommon because of how digital races are typically run, but the sky is the limit so I wanted a way to support it with out having to exit out of the RMS. I suppose there's also the unlikely case where a driver needs a replacement car and the replacement isn't ID'd right. I didn't want to assume a user had two PBs, but obviously if you do, then you won't be using this feature.

I thought about doing a handicapped version of the RMS during the trial period, like limiting the number of laps you can run, but in the end I wanted users to be able to get the full experience. For example if you run practice time, then a qualifying race, then a finals race, a handicapped version of the RMS won't let you test that out very well how it's intended to be done in RCD. I'm very liberal with trial extensions, especially while the app is in "beta". All you have to is email me your limit code from the extend license screen and I'll set you back up.

Hi Dave

Time limited is fine if you just want to do some comprehensive tests & make a buy or no buy decision. However not so useful if like me you just want to dip in now and again to have a look a few things and check that the various RMS's work with my bits & pieces. Happy to buy a copy to add to the collection but that seemed to need a registration code.

Does the limit code change every time I run up the RMS? Do I need to leave the window active until I get the new code, or can I shut down & run again when I have the code? I hate copy protection. smile.gif

To me the trial is an evaluation period. Once you're done evaluating you either decide you want it or not. If the period ends and you're still unsure then you need to get an extension. It was important to me that the trial be 100% reflective of the actual application. For example, if you want to see if RCD is suitable for a 24 hour Enduro, go ahead and run one in the trial version. Scrutinize every single lap if you want. I encourage it. Heck, I recommend it. Because I donate all the money I'll receive to charity, I can't offer any kind of refund if you're unhappy. So instead I want to give you every opportunity to know what you're getting into buying my software. If you're still unhappy after purchase, there's really nothing else I could have done. This is the core reason why I won't come out and say I will be putting in ghost/pace car support. I don't want somebody buying the software assuming it'll happen and then get mad if it doesn't or if it takes longer than they expected. You're buying the current software and my support of it (bug fixes and tech support). If the software gets new features to make it even better down the road, you get those for free if you already own it...

Yes, the limit codes are weird to say the least. All you need to do is send me the last one you see (I think there's a copy to clipboard button which is the best way to do it) and I'll send you an extension code. Once you send me the code, you can do whatever you like. Closing the RMS until the extension code comes is absolutely fine.

I'm not currently selling the RMS (which is why I don't require a reason for a trial extension request). I've had only one bug report on the actual RMS beta which is fixed and the new build is on my site (new post coming) so I think the RMS is as stable as I can get it with out more use. But I'm currently working out an issue with the copy protection. We're close to a resolution but even though it has only affected a small percentage of users, I'd rather not have to explain to people buying the software what the issues are and their choices in dealing with them. Besides, outside of a version number change and the fact I'll be selling activation codes, there's no difference between the beta and official release. So there's really no hurry there.

I hate copy protection too!

New beta build is up. I needed to fix a minor problem with the Race Day Interface when you receive a black flag.

FYI, there will be a new beta soon. I'm on business next week but hopefully it'll be right when I get back. The new beta will have constant speed "ghost" cars as well as scorpius wireless controller support. I'm also tweaking the UI a bit. Hopefully for the better.

Once this beta is released I plan on officially releasing it shortly there after (it's really very stable) and selling licenses once that happens.

New build is up. Fixed a few bugs and added two new features:
  1. Scorpius Wireless controller support. To use a Scorpius controller do the following:
    • Insert Scorpius dongle into free USB port (you only need one dongle for all 6 SSD IDs)
    • Go into your driver configuration and "Scorpius" as your 3rd party controller
    • Hit "Update" to save your driver settings
    • The controller must be set to ID 1 and PIN 1 through 6 (depending on the desired SSD ID).
    • That's it. Start a race and that driver is using the wireless controller
  2. Constant speed ghost cars. To use constant speed ghosts cars in your race do the following:
    • Go into your driver configuration and create a new driver. On the ghost car tab select "constant speed" instead of human
    • Set the throttlePCT to something larger than 0
    • Setup the two LC parameters how you see fit. Setting them both to 0 will prevent the ghost from changing lanes.
    • Repeat these steps if you want to be able to use more than 1 ghost car in a heat at the same time
    • Now that the ghosts are created you have to get them into a heat. There are two ways to do this:
    • Simply drag them into the race like any other driver. They'll be part of your race from beginning to end and will be added to heats based on your races rotation type
    • Go into your race setup and under the "Scoring" tab check the "Add ghost cars" box and hit update. When this property is selected for a race, any custom rotation file rotation type or single heat rotation type will automatically fill the tracks empty IDs with ghost cars if they're available. If you've created enough ghosts you'll end up with the maximum drivers on the track at once for every heat in your race.

This build is still considered beta only because I need to finish up the Wizard setup and clean up the readme file. Once those things are done, barring any reported bugs I'll release this officially as version 1.0. Until then, I'm offering no questions asked trial extensions.

Thanks,
Dave

I just posted a new build and if you've downloaded and installed it already you've noticed two things. First, this latest beta will reset your license no matter what state it was in before. After installing and running this build you will have a brand new 30 day trial. This is because I've decided to start selling activation codes for the application. On my website you'll see that I'm selling the app for $50 US, however because the application is still technically in beta, I've decided to put it on sale for $25. This sale will go on at least until the official release is done but will end with absolutely no notice. Once I pull the sale, I'll honor any purchases received the day I pull it but no later. With everything RCD offers already I believe $25 is a steal. The purchase can be made through pay pal (see my website). If you don't have pay pal email me and we can work something out but I won't activate you until payment is received and cleared so plan ahead. Extensions to the current trial may be granted however you'll need to provide a reason for needing more than 30 days to evaluate a fully functioning RMS. Most reasonable requests will be granted at least at first.

Finally as a reminder, every penny I receive for any of my software goes to charity (see my website charity section for details). So everybody wins if you buy RCD

I would recommend anyone who has an old version of RCD and are going to update to new version that you do a full uninstall of the old version then go delete old database, copying a new version over the top of an old one can cause conflicts

I just posted a new beta release v0.2.1.98. This had a couple minor fixes plus a bigger fix for multi-heat races and race events. This very well could be the final beta. I'm just waiting on as much feed back as possible especially regarding the most recent fixes.

Enjoy the holidays
