It's that time of year...2010's circuit is no more. The structure modules have all been removed from my table as have the track, borders, signage and the rest. The completely empty table is presently in the process of being sanded, all holes filled in, and touch-up painted to be readied for 2011's circuit. I have been working with several designs (previously mentioned) and decided to do some tweaking before finalizing. The end result is a track that I am really excited about driving. Here it is:

As you will notice, there are several sections containing different radii, but these are consistent throughout the section so once the diver is set-up for this section, there should be no nasty surprises (like an R1 in the middle of an R3 section). I am also, believe it or not, seeking to minimize long straight runs. The reason for this, since it is a home track, is to allow pacer cars a more fair advantage. Before, I could always blow past the pacers on a long straight (unless my personal sporting rules prohibited passing). Now it will be more difficult. Besides, open throttle racing does not appeal to me.

I have not decided precisely where to place lane-changing sections, but since I am using straight lane-changers only my options here are fairly obvious. It gets even trickier with the potential proximity of lane-changers to curved sections, but hey, to me that is all part of driving a new circuit and so I do not avoid such challenges.

Anyway, work will progress with the intention of having the circuit completely installed prior to the start of the F1 season in mid-March. I suspect I will have some additional track borders to build in the days ahead. Who knows what other (if any) new stuff I will dream up.

I really enjoyed 2010's circuit and, as much as I anticipated driving it, I was also ready to see it go and move on to other driving challenges. 2011's circuit should also be really fun, but in a different way, providing plenty of excitement for the year ahead.
