If you put lane changers after curves, your car may slide and and miss the lane change sensor.

I tweaked your design a little...

nice...... i like that!

Novice question.... What are the AU sections? Would these be the extra power sections that i have seen for the various accs?
You also edited the Pit lane? Is this because they may be issues or was that a Preference thing?

Yep, the AU sections are for the accessories. They come with the driver display, position tower, start light, and the (yet to be released) new wireless controllers.
I don't know if there would be any issues with your pit lane design. I changed it to make room for the start light and straight section before the pit entry.

Don't know if you know, but Carrera will be releasing sets with the new control unit and new wireless controllers later this year.

Scalextric has all the features you mentioned in the SSDC RMS software. If you're after versatality scalextric is the route to go. You can chip Slot.it and Pioneer cars very easily. I went through the same decision making process you're going through. When I finally got my SSd equipment, I wasn't disappointed at all.

I recently changed from ssd 7042 to slot.it oxigen and i haven't regretted. Just to say that is also an option - but an option where you need to solder the chips in the cars and need a computer for fuel (wireless though).

so just ordered my Carrera set. Worked out after my calculations, that it was cheaper for me with the layout and set-up i have gone for, to go with a evolution set with a local supplier and upgrade it to digital adding the extra track sections too..... not a lot cheaper granted, only £40gbp, but thats almost three Pit Garages or and Extra car biggrin.gif

Also this way i can build the upgrade kit with the CU and not the Black box, and then just chip the cars and buy some lane changers.

Looking forward to picking it up this weekend from a local outlet...

Did you include digital controllers and a power supply?

Are you aware the newer (since 2010 question.gif ) Carrera analog cars no longer have headlights?

yes i included the transfomers, controllers etc.

Wasn`t aware of the Headlight thing, but then i`ll be adding more cars of once its switched over. These will most like be the only two that are evo cars.

The set is here

Just an idea

would this be a better set to go for? they have this too at what seems to be a good price..... the only thing that worries me is the age... Will this unit be ok with the latest stuff?

lol yeah thats him Big Fella. Wouldn`t wanna get in his way!

Slight change to the way i have done things, but i have purchased an old Digital 132 F1 set off Ebay today. Picked that up for £70gbp which is good as it has a fair amount of track in. Seller says it works ok so we`ll see. Regardless I`ll be adding the CU later this month along with the Pit Lane and hopefully the rest of the track to make the layout.

As the cars included were pretty battered, i went out today and bought these little beauties....

http://s1147.photobucket.com/albums/o549/a...nt=DSC01647.jpg

While i was there i looked at the 1/24th cars. Wow. The size and detail is amazing. I will certainly be adding a couple of those. cool.gif
