Hi Guys,

Just seen on the Scalextric site that they have a new James Bond set coming out on Micro Scalextric for the Skyfall film.

The cars have not been announced yet but the current box art has an Aston Martin DB5 and an Aston Martin DBS. Both Astons that featured in Casino Royale.

The DBS has been on my want list for a while although not enough for me to pay the prices it has been listed at on the bay but a DB5 would be absolutely brilliant!

I'm looking forward to seeing what the set looks like.

In other news, I was delighted to see that the list price for the My First Scalextric set with the Minis is £39.99. I just got a complete boxed set on ebay for 99p. Result!

Cheers

Gareth

It's a shame that the Skyfall set will feature yet another (wide-arsed) DBS. I'd love a DB5 but can't justify the set price for one car. I already have three different DBSs sitting on my shelf.

Two Scalextric minis for 99p??? Too much for me biggrin.gif

I'll trade you a Mini for a DBS! tongue.gif

I completed my Micro Scalextric Mini collection today with the arrival of the one from the Rally set. I'm going to use my spare duplicates to paint them up like my Dad's driving school Minis.

Deane, no pictures of the cars as yet. Just a mock up of the box art. Come on Scalextric!!

Already have a mini or two. Anyway, if you swapped for a DBS you'd have even less reason to get the Skyfall set. Still think we need to do a proper underground slot race for 'pink slips' sometime biggrin.gif

True enough on the DBS front. I find it hard to justify any Micro set as I don't intend to use the track. Better to spend £15.99 on just the cars from ebay.

Pink slips? Aren't pink slips usually permission from the missus to go out on the lash?

I am up for some underground slot racing though definitely. And I know Messrs Player, Prichard, McHarg and Dadson would be up for it too. And hopefully The Doctor of WHO, Robin, Simon and Mike M will join us too.

The other thing I like about underground racing is the chance to experiment with racing more alternative cars. X-Tractions, 4 Gear vans, Micro Scalextric, Tomy Turbos and things like that. I'm also in the process of hunting down 4 12volt Matchbox Powertrack chassis as that will be a hoot to race with. Frustrating and tricky but a hoot!

I should be moved into the new house in a couple of months time and then I can host four lane racing on the current track and it can be permanently set up while I begin construction on its replacement which will be a 70 - 100' four lane routed road course with elevation changes. Which will be nice.

Has anyone noticed the cars in the 'new-for-2012' My First Scalextric set on the Scaley website?

They aren't minis are they? Me and Deane had a look the other weekend and reckoned a slightly odd generic BTCC car unsure.gif

Try the zoom feature on the pic of the track.

Hi Simon,

I didn't know that no. I've not got masses of Tjets yet but there are a few that I really like such as the Aurora "cigar" Indy cars. So I'll be getting more in the future and I'll look at the DB5s. Can you squeeze one into your Italian Job track? Been a while since I saw the film but I don't think there is one in it. Right sort of period though.

Had a look at the My First Scalextric new rally cars. Weird little things aren't they!

Cheers

Gareth

Charlie drives a DB4 convertible in the film, which goes over the cliff. I've got a couple of DB5's lined up to go on the circuit and am collecting other late 60's european T-jet bodies and Faller cars.

Hi Matt,

The link still says Cars to be announced and the box art showing the DB5 and DBS is the one that was there when I originally posted this thread.

So, looks like we're still waiting sadly!

Still, always a Tumbler or two from Batman to pick up while we're waiting!!

Cheers

Gareth

Ahh ok!...

LOL if you only knew... (Huge batman fan since I got into the graphic novels in the 80s) Sadly I wont be getting one as I only collect HO\micro scale due to space or lack of it haha ( I assume you're talking about the ltd Ed. tDKR one from Scalextric.
