FORD GT-R Falken Tire Team: Black Swan Racing No54 2008

Reference No: C3136
Class: Endurance
Availability: May 2011

The Ford GT 2004 is a modern version of the Ford GT40 from the 1960s. The car now regularly appears in today’s GT championships around the world.
The Falken sponsored Ford GT-R had a relatively successful debut in the American Le Mans Series in 2008. Drivers, Anthony Lazzaro and Tim Pappas, finishing 8th in highly competitive GT2 class in their first race.

The Ford GT-R was born in March 2006 when Doran Racing (from Grand-Am fame) designed and built a GT2 specification Ford GT. The chassis was modified with wider track, roll cage, race suspension and brakes and powered by a Roush Yates prepared 5.0 Litre engine with a six speed gearbox.

The bodywork has been replaced by carbon fibre components which include a front splitter and wide-body kit. The front and rear clip has been simplified, removing many of the shut-lines and separate panels. At the rear a large rear spoiler and Gurney Flap helps down-force.

Doran Racing built Chassis 2 for the Falken sponsored ‘Black Swan Racing’ team. The famous Falken livery, which started life in Japanese GT racing adorns the GT2 race-car.

Features: High detail. Working lights fitted front and rear. Magnatraction and quick change braid plate. Digital ready chassis. Wide rear axle gives excellent road-holding attributes which will make this car a must for the racer.

Amusing. Wouldn't it have been better to omit that paragraph from the press release? smile.gif

Wha-ha-ha!!! biggrin.gif What I thought exactly....maybe Scaley could sell add on "aero kits" just like the real world....

I'll be waiting for mine from the infamous bidding website.

Hmmmmm.....in actual fact....I think I might start working on an aero kit for these Ford's..... yikes.gif

It looked OK until I saw it next to picture of the actual car it's based on.
Now I have to say it's a bit of a half job. Come on Scalextric, put a bit of effort into it please.

Actually it looks like Scaley might have toy'ed - excuse the pun - with the idea....I could swear I saw something different between my 2 GT's...

Spot the difference and yes-yes, I know, the Stillen car is a rally car, but if you go to all the trouble to make a little "bumper" why not just make an aero add on for the Robertson and Falken cars as well...those 2 cars (Robertson and Falken Black Swan) looks SO MEAN with the kits on....

Stillen GT

Robertson GT

Just saying.... wink.gif

Hello Everyone –

I'm an American, and I've seen the real car before via television coverage ( I don't know if you guys in Europe get to see American Le Mans races.)... I thought something really off about this and the Robertson Racing versions. It looks like Scalextric took a short cut and just took their road Ford GT, and slapped on a wing (wrong style if you look at strongbow's pic), BBS style wheels and a livery on it and are passing if off for a racing car! That's unfortunate, I was looking forward to the black Matech version – I think that's one of the coolest looking modern GT cars IMO.

Regards!

Mike

Has anyone chipped one of these? If so please pm me if you can share details. Probably standard stuff but I'm going to attempt tonight.

THanks
