Screwneck - it is a chassis design change. Not a motor change.

Wow! Nice cars there! Why do SlotIt keep on changing their motors every 4 years? Can't they get it right from the start? NSR seem to make fantastic motors from day 1 but SlotIt keep on forcing people to experiment with replacement stuff while keeping their customers forking out the cash to change chassis parts in older cars as they delete former motors. It's a real nonsense. Just make a motor that works well and stop messing people around I cannot agree: Classic Slot.it cars were born with orange enbell V12. It must be at least 4 or 5 years, and they are still using the same motor. We have changed the motor mounts to different ones, but you can just move the pinion to the other end of the shaft and still used the same motor. Gr.Cs and GTs. started with the white endbell 25K 10 years ago then changed to the same orange enbell V12 that classic cars use, when the previous factory went bust, probably 5 years ago. Gr.Cs still use the same motor. Now we are upgrading the design of GT cars to a new spec. All the rest of the line is still using the same motor... We've been racing the EU Championship for four years with the same Boxer/2. |

Yes, I for one love the fact new LMP/GT cars will come with flat6 AW standard However, there are some parts best not changed too much, I don't expect I will be the only one who doesn't like the fact the new guides as fitted to the lola cant be made to self centre due to the wiring point. I know why the design was chosen, but I feel the benefit is outweighed by the negative, at least for racers, home use maybe not so much ..... I personally, hope Muarizio will not be making that design standard, but I fear he will need to see a return on his R&D and tooling costs. I was sure the new guide would cause some controversy, but like most new things, it is a matter of getting used to it. With a standard guide, you'd loose 10mm of pickup-to-rear-axle space. It will only be used where necessary - for the time being this means LMP cars only... Oh BTW, I drove a Lola for the first time at the club Wed night - in a very competitve category... ![]() |

i dont think it would be a big job for scratch buiders to make the guide self centering. a scalextric guide spring some plastic and glue should do the job nicely. yes i know you shouldn,t have to do this to a new car, but only a small minority leave their cars bog standard out of the box. john

The new Slot.it guide is absolutely perfect for people who scratchbuild skinny 1/32nd scale 1.5 litre Grand Prix cars. When will a deep blade (wooden track) version be available, Maurizio?

Hi Russell.
Yes, we are designing a deep blade unit. It will come with screw and not clip. We're also designing a 'standard' blade with screw, and not clip. Regards Maurizio |

OK, you asked 'when' and not 'if'
It will be later this year, I think before the summer break. |

We ran the Lola around Larkfield in the break between races. All the seasoned racers hated the guide - and its not possible to fit an alternative But... we nearly didn't have a second race as we spent so much time trying to better one another with the stock car. With magnet it broke the lap record, it was so fast it got below the minimum timing on our computer race management program. Need to try it magless, but at last we might have a competitor for those brilliant NSR Moslers... (sorry maurizio!) -------------------- PB-Pro homepage C7042 power upgrade SSDC website

Eh - If I had an alternative and could keep the same performance, I'd have used it
No need to be sorry, we know the Mosler is 'fast fast fast' ![]() |

Hi Maurizio,
I recieved my Lola last weekend, and hate to admit it, but I sold it last night at my club. I tested it and it seemed to run very well, and it's a step forward in out of the box performance. I understand the guide issue, but at the end of the day, it's the drivers fault if they come off, they won't loose much more time as the marshall straightens the guide. Good thing is the Lola is very difficult to crash, it just stays in the slot! My only slight fault, and it's a tiny one at that, is that my car had some creases on the Union Jack decal on the rear airbox. Nothing a quick shot of lacquer won't smooth off though, but other than that, it's perfect! I only sold the Lola because my Slot.it RAW McLaren was starting to show its age, so I rebuilt it, with all Slot.it bits, 1mm pod, Boxer motor etc, and it was right near the top of the times. So it was surplus to requirements at this point in time. But I'll be getting the Rebellion car for sure! Any sneaky pics of it yet? Regards Jon |

I have had mine for a few months now and the guide is interesting.
The guide I've got mine, after a while, to self centre to within a few degrees. But the car is quick & stable. More impressive are the moulding of the plastic chassis, body and all the pieces of the kit. A real step forward in quality. Thin and light but accurate and straight. |

Hi Maurizio,
Do you have any updated estimated time frames for release of the rebellion and the Audi? My new Lola needs a running mate Cheers, -------------------- |
