I would be interested in peoples views on the team slot cars. I like the older cars like golfs and escorts that team slot seem to do, but would like to know how good the overhaul pakage is please, quality of body graphics running gear and so on.

Hi,

Newer, plastic cars are okay, usually quick but patchy running quality wise. The older resin ones are worse. They are heavy, expensive and hideously mis-shapen.

I may be biased, however.

I'm not in reviews but I like to sing something:

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed, the only car(d) I need is
(ace of spades: motorhead)

not a team slot if you like RTR cars without spending days in fixing their poor quality. But they certainly look nice, and fidlling a bit with a car is zen too..........ahum

I have a few of these, I actually love 'em.... why I'm not quite sure question.gif they don't look that good, OTB they are really poor, I suppose because I have worked on them to get them to run well, they've rewarded me?

Here's one thats really Fun!

Quite terrible but they do make some unique cars that no others have attempted. Quality is usually poor and so is the performance in my experiences but I keep thinking that there is a good one out there. I guess in too soft! lmfao.gif

The chassis is made of recycled chewing gum and the fit and finish shows that their QA and QC people are all blind but my Alitlia Mote Carlo Stratus Stratos looks divine!

In theory, I think the Team Slot catalogue consists of some of the most desirable cars including the Cologne Capri, Escort, and Lancia S4 to name three. In practice I agree with Scott, the plastic cars are okay (cheaper) and steer away from the more expensive resin. Whichever you choose, expect the overall quality to be no where near the likes of Hornby, Fly and co.

For instance, I am a big fan of Lancia cars, and Team Slot produce the aforementioned S4, it looks horrible (misshapen, poor paint application). On the other hand, the plastic Stratos is neat, along with the Delta, Alpine, Toyota and Audi not bad at all, these are plastic and tampo printed whereas the resins including the S4 are hand painted and limited runs.

The trouble is with Team Slot, it’s a quite a personal decision and if you try one you'll soon realise whether Team Slot are for you. Therefore if you cannot try before you buy, it really depends whether you are prepared to risk spending £20.00+ on a car which may or not be for you.

James

Thats my Stratos:

It took me some time and a few aftermarket parts to make it run properly, but now is a beauty and it already has rewarded me with a 3rd place finish in the last 2wd Rally race I entered. Possibly I could use a M1 and fight for the win but I liked the Stratos much better.

They look good, and aren't bad Runners out of the box, but with a little fiddling, mainly fixing the front axle, maybe an axle change, and they run great!

I thought your beatle was a Pink-Kar, Ian unsure.gif

Anyhow, my views on teamslot are: only buy if no-one else does that car with a nice livery, and if you do be prepared to replace pretty much most of the running gear. Last resort option IMO smile.gif

I have the plastic Toyota Celica and it's great to look at, although I haven't run it yet. I'm waiting for somewhere (anywhere...) to have the Lancia Delta (white Martini version) in stock so that I can have my very own Sega Rally Championship...

I also have the resin Metro 6R4, Computervision livery. The body is not particularly great, but seeing as no-one else does it, I felt it was worth buying. I gave up on Scalextric ever making one after they showed a proper version with spoilers etc in one of the mid-eighties catalogues and then cancelled it and reissued the standard Metro with that "wide body kit" add-on which was nowhere near as good. Fools.

So, resin OK but not great, plastic good to great. If no-one else does the model you want, I'd say it was worth a go.
