Timaru is one of the oldest slot racing clubs in the country, celebrating its fiftieth anniversay during 2009, now based in Broadstairs in Kent.
See: www.timaru.co.uk
Timaru has always catered for scratch builders, even from the earliest days when some members were employees at the then nearby Hornby Models factory. Today we run classes to the British Slot Car Racing Association rules (BSCRA) at both 1/32 and 1/24 scale, but with an emphasis on Falcon powered cars for not only Production but also F1 and 1/24 classes.
We meet on Thursday Evenings from approximately 7.30 p.m. onwards. Visitors welcome. Spare cars and controllers always available, so come and have a go!

I have started a Thread in the Events section but that is rather crowded so I am repeating the information here.
D3 Can Am and F1, Timaru (Broastairs, Kent) Sunday 27th June 2010 A chance for all fans of 60's racing cars, full size and 24th Scale, to race to the D3 rules at the Timaru Raceway situated at the Crampton Tower Museum in Broadstairs. This means inline chassis, Falcon powered, Can am sports bodies and late 60's F1 (early years of the 3 litre formula and pre full sized rear wings). Practice will start at 9.30 am and we aim to finish racing no later than 5 pm. Entry is £5 per class. Plenty of tea and coffee on tap all day and plenty of surrounding catering if you can't be bothered to bring sandwiches. It is also the tail end of Dickens Week in Broadstairs with a collectors toy fair due to be held. There should be plenty of things to do for other members of the family. Bring everybody to a sunny day by the sea in Broadstairs! More details about Timaru in the clubs section of SlotForum and more information about D3 all over SlofForum, start in the clubs section with the North London SME. The entry will be limited to 20 to make sure we can finish at a reasonable time. Stan Kirk -------------------- Stan Kirk

Big thanks to Stan, Graham, Bill, Mike, Timaru Steve and everyone else at the club for a great day's racing yesterday.
I enjoyed myself on the track while my family happily toasted themselves on the beach. Job well done! L. |

John, shame you couldn't be there - the lack of 'retail therapy' for slot bodies was noticed, particularly by Bill!
