I am not especially happy with the Scalextric cars coming out this year. Other years have been better in my opinion.
I can't stand Japanese Touring Cars. I just don't like the look or shape of them. I've seen too many of them in GT4 (you play against at least one Japanese race car nearly every high class race) and compared to other car companies' touring cars they aren't good. The Honda NSX is the one I hate the most by far. Anyway 2 cars that I do like from this year's range are the Aston Martin and the Jaguar. These cars look very nice, are British (I prefer British cars to Japanese cars any day) and would, hopefully, make great racing partners if they were raced against each other. Apart from those 2 the only 2 other cars I like are new Cooper Climax and Ferrari Sharknose and if I get the versions Scalextric put out in 2005 I won't be getting the 2 newer ones because they are too similar to each other. So in the end I only definitely want 2 scalextric cars from this year range. Perhaps more but 2 is looking the likely figure for now. Well at least this year's scalextric figure is better than this year's Revell one! I don't like or want any of the cars Revell are going to put out this year. Interestingly enough I don't have a single Japanese car in my collection and from the list of cars I want to get it doesn't look as if a Japanese car is going to appear on that list. I'm not trying to 'put down' Japanese cars I just don't like their cars as much as other countries. But if there's one set of cars I hate more then Japanese Touring Cars it would have to be NASCAR's. Although that's another story...a story which I'm never going to tell and couldn't be bothered telling anyway. Anyway I've been rambling on for too much. Guess I got carried away. -------------------- Cheers,
Frederick |

QUOTE The underside of one of these cars showing a hatch to allow the insertion of a digital chip. The chip plugs in without having to any soldering or fideling around. I wonder if this plugin chip idea will be used on non Japanese Touring Cars, ie; will this be a major improvement in the provision for a chip in all non-chipped cars? -------------------- ![]() |

If Jon is right no pit babes & no hatch
QUOTE (slotcity @ 8 Feb 2006, 03:45) The JGTC cars that Scalextric have been showing are the Takara pre-production models - hence why the base has the space for the figure which won't be included with the Scalextric release.
The Scalextric versions will come with a different chassis which will have the standard mounting points for the existing digital chips - they won't have space for the plug n play chip. At least this is what I was told a few weeks ago, I've no reason to believe things have changed and no plug n play chip has been announced by Scalextric. One of the reasons for Scalextric not having a plug n play chip is that the space for it (between the guide and motor) would need to be available in all cars. This would reduce the different motor position options, reduce interior details and never be possible in an F1 car. Jon, Slot City. -------------------- |

Tnx Rich, I missed that.
Would be a master stroke however, even if only half the fleet could be 'plug n play', would be a step up on Ninco and seems to be an issue for many people. -------------------- ![]() |
