Second Race in the championship: woensdag 4/01/06

I was planning to race my Sierra... Some of you have seen the video of my Sierra testdriving in the track threads. To show my fighting-intentions I finally made the lights work, I had to take some points back from last weeks race.

Well... 15 minutes before the start of the race the car let me down... It started making strange noises, and I couldn't immediately find what the problem was. So I took my Merc 190 again... straight from last weeks race. I didn't had the time to check one bolt on the chassis!

I took pictures of this competitor before the race, to avoid having pictures where lots of the pieces of the Golf were all over the place. Fortunately it doesn't show that the car had such a huge crash last week:

The grid of the second race: 1&2 were the same as last week (1: Gunther, 2: Bram). Place 3 was for the Marlboro 635 from Ben. Place 4 was again for Slim with in the Golf. Place 5 was for the Quattro from Pieter and 6 was Jo's 635.

Some race-shots. Not very easy to take pictures and marshall at the same time:

Slim' Golf drifting:

Ben's Marlboro 635 flat out on the straight:

Pieter's Quattro:

Slim's Golf on two wheels, lapping the Quattro (in the back of the image):

The Marlboro-man chasing the Golf:

There aren't any moving pictures of my Benz. Only this one after the race:

Bram lost control over his Supra and went over the wall... straight on the top of my car... and broke my front window... in the last two laps of the race.

Pieter made also some big crashes with the Quattro and his driver figure banged hard with his head against the front window... the paint came loose!

The race itself was very exciting. Most of us start go get used to the "ideal" lines, and there were a lot less incidents. The ones that did happen were very hard though. The race was divided in groups... there was a severe battle between Bram's Supra and my Benz. And there was a big fight between the Golf, the Quattro and the 635. In the first part of the race I was 6 laps ahaid of Bram, but due to a failure I had to stop twice in the second part, where I lost 8 laps... I took 3 laps back, wich made us finish 1 lap from each other after 250 laps! Ben and Slim fought some great duels further up the field. Slim won the battle and took his third place again...

Results of the second race:

Gunther: 256 Laps - 13 pts (10 race + 3 qualif)
Bram: 255 Laps - 10 pts (8 race + 2 qualif)
Sim: 245 Laps - 6 pts (6 race)
Ben: 236 Laps - 5 pts (4 race + 1 qualif)
Pieter: 220 Laps - 2 pts (2 race)
Jo: DNF

Season results

Gunther: 11 + 13: 24 pts
Bram: 12 + 10: 22 pts
Slim: 6 + 6: 12 pts
Ben: 4 + 5: 9 pts
Pieter: 2 + 2: 4 pts
Jo: 4 + 0: 4 pts
Koen: 1 + 0: 1 pt

Greets from Petit Spa

Hi Gunther

GREAT Cars........!!! Looks like awsome racing. Big Al has tried to get this style of racing going in RSA - unfortunately very slow start.......

In RSA we add foam backed tape to the corners........ the kind that has sticky on the one side and foam on the other that can be bought in auto spares shops..... saves the cars in crashes and could help prevent the cars going over the barrier.

Hey J575,

the Golf is an older 1983 ESCI kit # 6003, street version.

They're rare now but sometimes You'll found one on EBAY.

Bye, SLIM.
