Hello,

Following a bit of a prompt from Scott on the NNRC thread I've started another thread. Its just to cover my scratch building projects although anybody else is welcome to join in of course.

I WILL CONTINUE TO POST ON THE nnrc THREAD AS WELL.

At the moment I have a Ford F3L P68 on the go and have just received through the post an Airfix E Type Jaguar and VW Beetle. The Jag is going to be turned in the Bob Tullius Group 44 version. I know Top Slot produce this but I fancy the challenge. The Beetle is going to be turned into a Uniroyal Fun Cup Endurance racer which are based on a modified Beetle bodyshell but sitting on a single seater racing chassis. I intend to use the Scalextric Sport Tuning range which is why I wanted to see how zxr400er's Ferrari 156 went with the little F1 motor in it. The Airfix Beetle is smaller than I imagined it would be so I think the F1 motor will be quite suitable.

Hello,

Busy trying to cut out a chassis from brass sheet and metal from the case from an old computer. When I scrapped the computer I saw those lovely flat sides and thought they would be great. Wow, hard work when you've just a little saw and dremel disc's. Perhaps thick plasticard would be better.

How about trying some Printed Circuit Board from Maplins, etc. for the chassis. It's easy to work and reasonably strong into the bargain.

Btw, have you got a camera? A few piccies of all this wouldn't go amiss.

Thanks for that reply. I had noticed people "talking" about printed circuit board on the forum and somewhat had the idea that everyone was junking computers. It goes to show that I really am as daft as my wife thinks I am ! IT IS OBVIOUS now and I will go down that route and visit Maplins.

I can't wait to get a digital camera and my wife is really coming round to the idea as well even if its not for the same idea as me .

I can sometimes borrow the old office one which has a floppy in it for transfer purposes. Old technology already. All I need to do is sign up to some photo holding place thingy, perhaps slotforum even.

Hi Nick...

As John says PCB is a great material for chassis building, and really very easy to use.
You will find lots of examples in the Scratchbuilding section of the forum showing chassis built using this material.
If you want any assistance just shout.

And now thats the printed circuit board purchased from Maplins as well. So on with the chassis making. The wife found out about the Slotforum + subscription but hey, whats £8.43 between friends especially when they are so helpful.

My wife almost bought a digital camera the other day but then changed her mind. Unusual for a women don't you think .

I know I should be getting on with my scratch built stuff and I am really........honest but, I have also turned Jack Brabham's Cooper T53 into the Stirling Moss version. OK, it was a simple respray job but, the Scalextric car is a very nice model in its own right and looks good in Rob Walker colours. I have also managed to re-arrange the head posture so it is more like Stirling's laid back relaxed posture. Its due to be raced soon.

If I had a digital camera I would take a photo.

Spent a useful day doing some resprays.

My Scalextric Group C Porsche 956 has now gone from being a "Rothmans" car to all white ready for the application of DMC "Liqui Moly" decals. I used good old Appliance White as the top coat. Even managed to find a more scale head to replace the balloon!!!

My Scalextric Cooper T53 has been resprayed again because I messed up using some old decal roundels and numbers. I have purchased some new ones from Pendles (their own brand) and will get to apply them tomorrow hopefully.

After Hannah "yanked off" my front wheels from the Ninco Orange Arrows I have managed to spray them orange like the rears. Its not an exact match with the body colour but they look better.

Finally, I've even managed to do some work on my VW Beetle which is turning into a Uniroyal Fun Cup Endurance racer. I've decided to get a Ninco Renault Clio rally car chassis and use that, with some slight modifications, as the chassis. It should speed up the build process.

I put new wheels and stickers on my vanwall today as the old ones were very tatty.

Looks nice i think.

Shame it doesn't go well.... I spent a few hours up the track this afternoon and have sorted all my cars except this. I worked on it when I got home and I think that is ok now, we will see tuesday night.

My proslot ferrari FLYS! I split 2 pinions already tho...

My group C will be erm.... intresting.... .

I had quite a good weekend doing a bit of model making type stuff on my slot cars despite going out shopping both days. I've more or less finished my re-livery of the Scalextric Porsche 956 and without wishing to brag, IT LOOKS FANTASTIC . I want to source some rear view mirrors for it. The Cooper T53 is also looking much better now I've used some new roundels and numbers on it.

As we are running them stock, it'll be interesting to see how they go . The Scalextric Group C cars seem to run on relatively narrow and hard tyres. Another demolition derby??

My porsche isn't running the group C tyres like most, Mine came with the tyres that are the same as the BTCC ones... O wait I've said too much!!

At long last I (or in the family sense - WE) have got a digital camera . It is a konica Minolta Dimage Z6 so very soon (soon being a relative expression of course) I will be able to post some pictures on the forum. I'm not quite sure how I use the gallery as a Slotforum Plus+ member but I will get there somehow. perhaps I could take some test shots of some of my reliveries.

I went into Halfords at Park Gate, Fareham to check out the "Greens" for your Stirling Moss car. The nearest I could find to a colour between BRP and BRG were

Vauxhall Reed Green (light)
Vauxhall Leaf Green (Mid)
Ford Meadow Green (a brighter mid colour)

Check them out at your nearest Halfords and make your pick. I will be spraying the Primer today.
