So we come onto one of the big boys and SCX are certainly aiming for most new and innovative release award for 2006.

I am splitting this Companies write up, analogue now and SCX Digital in another thread.

Basically you can see SCX headed along the Ninco front in terms of 'novelty' or speciality track but at the same time taking it one step further.

Take this for instance...

What is it?
Why street racing of course! complete with tuning cars (rice racer?) boasting inter changing body parts, neon under chassis lights and of course tune ups for performance. Oh! and the set comes complete with a track spanning 'boom box' pumping out MP3 sounds!

SCX Tuning Series...

Pre packaging...

The blurb...

The sound system, cars and especially the track are obviously aimed at the late pre teens/early teens market, which strikes me as a cool move and it should sell well.

The track is two tone and the final release will have raised, chamfered edge kerbs and trick track sections. It will also be 100% compatible with standard SCX...

Cars will, out of the box, have this sort of look...

So then if that isn't enough, there is always the new rally track and its accompanying trick track and cars.

Actually the new 'long drop arm' cars were not on show, they were using the older Peugeots - 6 of them in mint condition!! wacko.gif

So, we have a rough desert track presented, with high, raised sandbanks and wood style bridges and, well take a look...

Yours truly fondling the track surface as the Rep uses a SlotForum Promotion Brochure to flick a car back onto the track smile.gif...

Onto a short list of advertised new releases, first of the years 'vintage' series is Derek Bells McLaren M9A...

A packaged 'Tuning Series' car...

Another 2005 range F1 release, Kimi's McLaren. The Rep mentioned how hard it was proving to print the name on the side bulge as it has a fin across it. Look closely and you will see what he meant...

and another release, the Modena in GTC form. This is another model that went from only one manufacturer (Proslot) to obscurity and back with first, hand made Tomasek versions and Revell in easykit form and now SCX...

Another of the, unconvincing for me sadly, 550s...

A sweet Cupra! I hated the fist one but this...

Another Aston DBR9!. Not so much of a surprise I guess, if it is announced by Scalextric it usually follows in SCX boxes (A nice Leon is sidling into view on the right wink.gif )...

Corvette...

Then a research stage announcement of a new PRO Range...

RALLY...

SPEED... Internal braking, an innovation they showed us but would not allow us to photograph. Wait until you see it and judge for yourselves but I was unconvinced with the concept. It basically has a floating rear axle unit that presses onto a rubber tube on the rear body mount when slowing down. So electric brakes on the controller is not enough?

A new Rally timer, will lug into standard scx track with a Le Mans style adaptor...

Last but not least, the SCX Trainer package...

This device will be perfect for timing single lane hill-climb track courses where you go out-and-up and then down-and-back-in.

Track fondling, yep, that's what I remember Allan for. help.gif

Sounding churlish I know but, didn't you get any shots of the Renault 5 Turbo? I saw some of a linky from SF and it looked every bit as good as the rivals.

Ach, can't believe I'll be weak and have to get that Modena - I thought I disliked Ferrari.

I think the Astra tuning doesn't look all that bad, certainly a lot better than the Leon!!

Question - there's a hobby/slot car shop here in the USA...

HobbyLinc

...that is showing that SCX is coming out with NASCAR's - Ford, Chevy, and Dodge - in both regular & digital versions and also sets in both. They were listed as "In Stock", but someone tried to order them and was told that it was an error as to being in stock, but didn't say that the cars themselves were an error???

So, was there any word of SCX re-entering the stock car wars with Scalextric and Artin???

According to SCI New York hobby show report, it appears that SCX will (again) be producing NASCAR.

I haven't been much of a collector of SCX in the past, I started with last years Vintage Tyrell "Jackie Stewart" and Classic series Fiat. Now I can't wait for Derek Bells Mclaren and the next cars for the classic series. That classic series Renault looks impressive. With Scalextric stopping its Sport Limited additions , I can see a huge sales increase/demand with SCX limiteds, especially if they keep punching out the big names in Formula One and the quality of these cars.

The Russian Age Racing Ferrari 550 is, according to mre, to be replaced by a yellow 550 with "Rhino's" sponsorship. Look on mre's site for more details.
