Not alot to report here in all honesty.

Cars (obviously) and a new track system.

The track is an odd one, AutoArt displayed a track system at Nürnberg in 2004. It was an almost direct copy of Carrera but a little wider and terrible quality.
This is what I reported at the time -

QUOTE
AutoArt track is a direct and blatant copy of Carrera, they just made it a little wide, the borders are too narrow for 1/24 and the quality is allot lower at the moment. However, they DID ask for input and advise from myself, Klaus from Overdrive and Thomas after receiving ‘complaint’s / suggestions from others over the week. Notice the thumb press controllers too (also Carrera copies but without brakes and the trigger was way too slow to return to stop.

This is what it was like, looking not bad from a distance actually and the bridge was great!..

However it looks like they took our advise and redesigned it. What they came up with this time is better, but not alot and I can't see it being a serious contender with any but Artin...

Still along the lines of Carrera, similar hard plastic but with alot better quality this time round. The Borders are great looking but only for a flat layout.
The surface close up picture didn't come out but imagine a Carrera track with Ninco sharpness and you will be close. I felt it had good grip for the AA cars we tried, the power supply and controllers are alot better but still not past a par with most standard set ones.
However with a softer tyre compound than AA use the grip was way too high and the tyres scrubbed fast. I used an old Ninco McLaren (No magnet of course) I took with me on purpose. First impression was that the ride was too disjointed, gripping too much at one time causing a tip and then when you did get the corner right the tyres got shredded.Anyway they stopped me soon after I put it on the track (2 mins max) - Well as soon as they saw what I was doing it in fact smile.gif so it was not a comprehensive test.

A lot of AutoArts planned 2006 car releases are already well documented but here is a little taster or two...

1/24...

1/32...

1/24 with a nice 1/24 RS in the background...

You could use the track as a sanding block. blink.gif

It was a bit strange how they limited our time on the track - one guy on the stand yanked the controller out of my hand to give it to an old lady who must have been reporting for some other slot magazine...

there was no 1/24 gt3 cars on their stand (when i was there) they haven't got the license yet, they say.

I try the track for a long time, long test with all of their cars, and there is big difference, 911 with normal positioned sidewinder was extreme fast and reliable, they also have a 911 with the motor behind the rear axles, and it didn't drive sad.gif all their 4 wheel drive cars was driving badly.
their 1/24 was all 4 wheel drive and run really bad, but when we removed the front tires it was better, still need a better wheel supporting on the axles.

Very interesting that they feel there is enough of a market to justify starting their own track. New marlets one assumes. Could this be the track Chinese slotters grow up with?

Gonna show my ignorance here, but that first car Swiss shows, whatever it may be, the one available in both scales, has a nice considerate touch. In the 1/32 version they appear to have given the lady passenger a cushion to sit on huh.gif

But what about the Jag C-type, Swiss? Any signs of it appearing anytime ever?

Hi Swiss, I just have to comment on your remark about Artin. I have to say Artin is a lot better than you give it credit for. I own a very nice wood track but I also have a backup plastic track which is Artin and I have to say it is a very nice track, better than a few of the major brands. It is not Carrera which would be my first pick in plastic but then again I did not need to win a lottery to buy 100+ feet 4 lane.

When do they not drive badly? smile.gif

Talking about Chinese slot tracks, I've seen Chinese knock-offs of SCX track advertised out there in the world wide web.
