of you had one 1 - 2 LC, and 2 - 1 LC, then i think you could use one entrance, and one exit per chicane, i think
Shaun, you could sell them one ebay, for £35, make a tidy profit, and lots of more, just race SSD people would snap them up, it looks soo clean Matt -------------------- If you have a PS3, Add Me! Love to keep intouch!

@Zipp
I like the 3rd lane idea right down the middle of the track. With the fixed exit flippers you can remove the pin that fixes them. Just find something like mole grips that you can get hold of it and twist it free. You can cut away the plastic under the flipper that the pin locates in if you are having trouble getting a grip on the pin. I prefer the exit flippers to work with some version CLC's the exit flipper is much slimmer than the entry flipper. I find the entry flipper has the change lane leave the flipper at a steeper angle and kinda gives a more abrupt lane change. Its hard to describe but the Racing line that i am currently working on i have used all exit flippers and in-planted the Exit Flipper change lane part in the normal lane and the normal lane part in as the change lane. OK so that makes little sense but it is a smoother change. I will post pics soon, i think its the best line in the circuit. Shaunbmx |

Nice use of spare LCs Shaun!
If you put 2 of the in to ins back to back you would very nearly create Beppes 'priests hat' corner. Excellent. -------------------- ![]() |

Shaun, thanks again for this inspiring work. I am going to use your idea of the chicane for my permanent track. I was just now reflecting on the problem of the pitsection where I would like to have at least two funtional pitbays. One of the problems was to get the two pit lanes back to one again and lead it back to the main straight and this in a small space. This is probably solved now when I use 'your' out to out chicane and take out the second inner lane. Hope you get my idea.
my pitsection to be Edit 4:08: Thinking this through, no sensor board is needed here. This leaves me a spare Greetings, Don Quislot |

Don, seems like that would work.
For my pit basy i am thinking of shortning some XLC and Pit Lane tracks to make better use of the space. The standard Scaley bits are kinda big, and soon add up. Shaunbmx |

Hi Shaun,
Shortening the XLC might indeed make more pit bays possible in a tight spot. Tighter curves won't be a problem as speed should be low in the pit section. I am going to cut up two CLC's tonigtht. I am not yet ready for cutting up XLC (I have no spares), but am very interested in what you come up with. Greetings, Don Quislot |

Nice idea Shaun, makes a perfect race line.
Dont understand the chicane term, isnt a chicane a squeeze? Are most of the CLC around your shops fixed or moving? Keep up the great ideas. Cheers. Shortening the XLC might indeed make more pit bays possible in a tight spot. Don Quislot Youll have a hard time using them if you shorten XLC for pit use. -------------------- scorpiuswireless.com

Iman
I have been getting my CLC's from Ebay Seller Jadlam Racing. It seems they are of all varieties. The last batch of 4 were some fixed, some non fixed and some with Nipple & some without, so its hard to tell what i will be sent. I was a bit concerned that stopping on an XLC in the right pit bay would become harder if i shorten the XLC's. Maybe i should test before i cut. Shaunbmx |

I run 6 standard length XLC's in my pit lane and I can tell you its just right, any shorter they wouldnt be practical at all.

Certainly Pit lane exits can be shorted by a half straight...

All you guys cutting up lane changes...
I need the sensor stuff from the lane changes for my routed track, if you have spares or want to swap for the track side of a CLC let me know... |

I use all my sensors and need more.
Has anyone tried asking Hornby if they might supply the parts.? Shaunbmx |

Having just spent my life savings on Pitlanes and XLC’s in order to emulate I’mans pitlane there's NOWAY I’m going to chop them up! Though
I must admit that this has caused a major problems with track planning the sheer size of a pitlane! I think you are all Heroic for contemplating such moves but I’ll just step back from the edge Regards Ian -------------------- Ian B

I'd missed this, but I must say that's pretty impressive work. I'm wondering, however, if it wouldn't be just as easy to route a wooden digital track and incorporate SSD? In any case, I stand in awe of your work and look forward to the updates!

If this one doesn't get you in the mood for cutting some track nothing will. Its real easy and you can use with a standard Half straight sensor track. No placing solenoids, flippers or sensor boards. This takes around an hour to complete, compared with all my other Racing Line Transplants which have taken at the least 5 - 8 hours each. 1. Take a CLC, remove the rails and cut in half like this. 2. Then take another and do the same. 3. Then place parts from the two 'different' CLC's together. You have just made not one but 2 Racing Line Chicanes like this. Use solder Iron to melt/tack track on the back then Glue together on the back with either epoxy resin which will set hard. Or i have been using the hot glue gun to stick some track, i have a large one which gets real hot and it sticks to track amazing. Shaunbmx I just noticed the second one (the one i didn't use) goes OUTSIDE -to- OUTSIDE through the chicane not INSIDE -to- INSIDE. Still may be of some use in the future. Shaunbmx Have you thought of laying a normal Rad 2 crossover after this piece. if you lay it in the opposite direction you get a double s. one with LC, once the inside the is selected on entry to the normal crossover you again will take the racing line.... i know you have probably thought of this... -------------------- CYA on the Racetrack!
