Avant Pescarolo

There are two - they look the same but one is a special with lightweight interior and other things. No, I can't tell the difference either.

They are both fitted with 27k Hurricane motors and seem to be happy with the diode upgrade on the F1 chips.

I chipped my AUTOart Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII WRC with a normal size chip. It was a bit tricky...

Check it out at my blog.

I finally got around to chipping the new Jaguar. Originally I thought that there would be loads of space but the space in the side pods is mostly taken up by the cockpit. My strategy required a re-think as the inline motor filled what space there was in the front.
Attached File  Jag_01.jpg ( 217.97K ) Number of downloads: 38

I wanted to leave as much free space in the front as I could so I moved the Ferrite man back to sit in the side pod. This also a neat way to extend either the pickup or motor wires.
Attached File  Jag_02.jpg ( 178.7K ) Number of downloads: 34

The LED was a tight fit just in front of the motor. The ends were carefully splayed to allow for the drive shaft full freedom of movement.
Attached File  Jag_03.jpg ( 130.7K ) Number of downloads: 47

All the main wiring is now in place, I just need to add the wiring for the lights, as this is an Incar-Pro chip I needed a full set.
Attached File  Jag_04.jpg ( 124.5K ) Number of downloads: 71

The front lights can be seen and the chip fitted snugly in the back tacked in place with some hot glue. The rear lights can also be seen to the right.
Attached File  Jag_05.jpg ( 124.04K ) Number of downloads: 28

All back together again ..... and off he goes.

Hi Greg.
So you made id 1 week earlier than I. I used instead an F1 chip and mount in by the drivers side. I will try to post pictures in the afternoon.

Greg K

Which chip upgrade are you referring too, I've just brought a few avant slots and would love to run with the 27K motor, otherwise I will have to fit a lower rated motor.

Thanks

Colin

Hi Colin,
To run the 27k and the 25k motors I uprated the 4 diodes, these are the ones marked FS1A. These exists on the saloon, F1 and the DPR chips.

Great care needs to be used when removing them as they have been glued in place and it is very easy to rip the fragile copper tracks off the PCB. The other problem, and it is bl@@dy annoying, is when you try and hold the little blighters in place before you apply the heat and they suddenly ping past your ear never to be seen again blink.gif Think of it like playing the child's game of tiddly winks ........ except that it costs you every time you miss.

If I have a bit of spare time when I chip or re-chip a car, I tend to uprate the diodes as a matter of course. The reason being that the new ones are more efficient and use less voltage which means that it gives you a bit more grunt smile.gif

Cheers - Greg

Scott,
Firstly welcome to the forum it's a great place to be. I'm a bit out of date when it comes to chipping ohmy.gif but I'm sure most of the basics remain the same take a look here it should give you a guide if nothing else, I'd still recommend the saloon chip but that's just me lmfao.gif

hi
with bleep on this one, wherever there is room always go for the saloon chip,it is much better and more reliable..

If space is tight then opt for the f1 chip but make sure you have capacitors at the pick up feet and more importantly at the motor end...

Both of the above refer to the solder in chips rather than the dpr variety which need a trapdoor in the chassis to work..

Avant Slot - Subaru Impreza No.3 Ojeda
This car is slightly different than most of the ones that I chip because it has a short drop arm, it's not particularly difficult to do.
Attached File  Img_0145_B.jpg ( 118.13K ) Number of downloads: 22

The LED hole had to be drilled slightly further back than normal because the arm was offset.

Attached File  Img_0147_B.jpg ( 82.2K ) Number of downloads: 42

The green & yellow wires were removed from the chip and replace with existing wires which I kept just long enough to reach comfortably to the chip. The motor wires were also shortened.

Attached File  Img_0148_b.jpg ( 88.36K ) Number of downloads: 27

The car all back together again; the LED is shown

Attached File  IMG_0149_B.JPG ( 84.11K ) Number of downloads: 21

A quick run on my Display-Pro test track revealed this 4WD car to be very grippy and surprisingly fast with fantastic, easily controllable tail waggling ...... well worth buying smile.gif

Hello, I not shure if this is the right place to ask....I chipped the ASTON MARTIN DBR9 red bull from SCX with the saloon chip of scalextric, exactly as described in one of the above replies......but.......it blew up after tree rounds. mad.gif Anybody else had this issue with SCX motors? I chipped an auto art Mustang with the F1 chip, no problems, The scalextric CAMARO with the saloon chip, no problem.

Snif...was not able to drive it last night. Should I swap out the motor for a slot it? and install a slot it chip?

Thx

Next project for chipping is the DB5 from scalextric! tongue.gif

regards

Ivan

hi
yes the scx cars will blow the scaley chips. It may be possible to replace the scx motor with a scaley one or someone might be able to uprate the chips for you question.gif

other than that you could go the slot-it route.
