jmswms,
OK can you give us a bit of a hand here photo of the inside of the car? I have done a few Revell cars and had to fit the chip right at the back of the car? extending all the wires The Little "B" has to be done your right and would be great to have it running round your track what Manufacturer is it I thought it was Ninco or Carrera but can't find it still wont be that hard if you can find somewhere to hide the chip! good luck -------------------- Ian B

Bleep,
I do have a digital camera, but I can't figure out how to post JPGs on the Forum. There is room inside the 550, but the motor is in the front so there's no room between the guide and the motor for the LED. And, the shaft is centered behind the motor so the LED can't really go behind the motor. Can I put the LED in front of the guide? Then I'd have to splice the LED wires which are too short to reach from the probable placement of the F1 chip in the back... jmswms -------------------- Bill

jmswms,
OK right, yes the LED can go behind the motor I would take the motor out to do it, there is usually enough room to fit the LED in place and the re-fit the drive shaft without it touching the top of the LED. You have quit a bit of space backwards from the guide and it will still work. I can't remember if you can actually fit it before the guide but I haven't tried it. Just found this bit so the LED cant Go in front of the blade QUOTE FM RichG Lap counting & timing is a two part process. First sensor reads the LED to work out which car it is. Second sensor is a beam that is broken by the Slot Guide, this determines the time. I know this is not the exact same as its a 4x4 but you can see what I mean "I Hope" LED under the driveshaft sorry Cr@p Photo

Thanks for the info Bleep. Thought I'd go the easy route tonight and I chipped my Ninco Austin Healey MKIII with an F1 chip. It could easily have taken the Saloon chip, but all I have on hand are the F1s. It was extremely easy to chip. And, it's a blast to drive; it fishtails all over the place, but usually stays in the slot. It won't win any races, but fun to drive around. (Laptimes are about 4.8-5.0 compared with 3.8-4.0 for the Boxsters on my track). I'm collecting a set of vintage cars that will have similar handling characteristics and make for interesting vintage racing. Still working up the courage to do the Revell Porsche 550...

Well, I worked up the courage to chip my "Little Bastard" tonight -- the James Dean Revell Porsche 550. I first tried putting the LED in front of the guide -- bad idea

QUOTE (RichG @ 3 Jun 2005, 14:48) Have chipped my first GT40, 5 more to go. The Led can be fitted in the magnet hole, but I decided to remove it from it's small pcb and mount it directly to the main control board. I then bent it through a right angle, drilled hole just behind the magnet and it all went in very nicely. eat solution. Richard Richard - Did you ever find that your LED was too far back from the guide blade using this method? I have a fly GT40 that had the LED in roughly the same place, and on occassions when going really fast, the flipper doesn't flip quick enough. Pre chipped cars have the LED literally just behind the guide blade. Cheers Jude |

I have found it fine, track not that large though. If Doing it again I would use the magnet hole & leave the led on the wires.

Yes same position for the board. Fit's well and keeps the Green & Yellow leads short. You can use all the board mounted leads without extending. I have a preference for the saloon board as it is less prone to interference.
