I enjoyed reading your review Rob and after taking your Peugeot for a blast last night I must admit I was certainly very impressed with it, great fun to race and so easy to complete quick lap times.

FZS, if you're ever in the UK you're welcome to come and try it out thumbsup.gif On my track at least, I think you'll have a blast with these cars.

cheers,

Nice review Rob - I'm having a blast with this one - even on my tight little track it goes like the proverbial!
Not sure I agree with your comment on its looks though - to me this is the nearest thing to a spaceship since the GT1 98!
As regards the need to buy the ltd edition set - fair enough if they do this for Le Mans every year they can have my reservation now, but it did mean I'd already got the R10 before it was announced - anyone want a spare ?(!)

Great review as ever - and I'm seriously tempted. Makes the lights on the SCX one (my previous favourite rendition) look inadequate.

But....

Aren't the wheels on ALL the Avant Slot cars rather too small?

V8, I think you're correct.

The wheels on the Audi definitely look a bit small, the other two disguise it better. All three cars have wheels approx 14mm in diameter which, if my maths is correct, scales up to approx 17.6 inches. I found some figures for the Peugeot here which says the 908 had 20 inch front and 21 inch rear wheels which would be 15.9 and 16.7mm respectively (again, if my maths is correct.)

I've decided I can live with it biggrin.gif but not everyone will agree.

cheers,

I think all AS cars have 16.5 mm wheels... question.gif

I measured across the visible face of the wheel, not the overall diameter. Sorry for any confusion.

cheers,

On a related (yet unrelated) topic, my SCX version of this car arrived last night, and I'm having the darndest time keeping it on the track. Love the car, I'm likely to purchase the Avant Slot version when/if I can find it.

Great review. Sounded like you were talking about me.."ham fisted... half-competent". Just ordered one and hope it will do well against the new overpriced R8C's that I know will show up. At least I'll know they paid four times as much to beat me. innocent.gif

Haven't prepped the 908 for racing yet, but will know more in a couple of weeks if they show up at our club in winning form. As for the Audi R8C, I was wrong about that price, but it will definitely not be offered stock with the Flat 6 AW motor, so it will be the standard price instead. Just wanted to correct myself. Will offer further comments on the awesome Avant 908 after my racing observations in the near future.
