Gentlemen
it's time to step up to bigger Thingie toys! ![]() There is a new project going on this Fall, which will be revealed on these pages as we go along with it. A while ago, taking inspiration from Don Siegel's original Arrow Dart: ![]() ![]() ...Gene made a new plug after extensively modifying the front: ![]() ![]() ...and repopped that body: ![]() Given his small size compared to many of the other Shinoda bodies I thought it would be perfect to have it made in 1/1 scale: ![]() It was a great idea to choose that particular design, I cannot imagine what super monster would have come out if a "GT" body was to be made in full size! ![]() Anyway, Gene sent me the plug he made after I explained him what I wanted to do and I took it to Turin to U.C.I.F, a company specialized in building prototypes for the automotive industry. Here they scanned the 1/24 body with a 3D laser scanner: ![]() ![]() And made a file for the CNC machine: ![]() ![]() to be continued... -------------------- |

Nice project.
Congrats to the idea & effort! I guess the chassis/innards will be soldered brass rods/tubings, and also the whole thing(ie) be driven with a politically correct & environment friendly electric motor... (Not too much rewound, though). What's next – a 1/1 Cuc maybe? That would be really something... |

...the whole thing(ie) be driven with a politically correct & environment friendly electric motor... Thanks Chapman but actually I'm debating if we should put in a big Mabuchi 26D(bis) fed by an Iranian made portable atomic power plant or to put in 4 Ducati 8 valves 1100 cc Testastretta engines in an inline (off course) configuration. -------------------- |

That is totally insane - good luck with your adventure!!
ROFL!! -------------------- Just to avoid confusion the dog in the picture is not Eno the Wonderdog. He is instead an imaginary stuffed puppety dog named Scruffy, owned by a person that imagines he's an imaginary dog named Eno the Wonderdog.

C'mon now Kingie.......you know THAT's already been done!!!... I bow to you 32, you've always been a trendsetter, an example we all look up to! Anyway, after fiddling a bit more with the 'puter: ![]() ...the commands are fed into the CNC milling machine: ![]() ...which effortlessy start to dig into high density polyurethane, starting from the top of the model, to make a "negative" mold: ![]() Layers over layers are then added: ![]() ![]() ...and the machine keeps on going: ![]() ...'til we have a "hull" (hi Bleep ![]() ![]() Fiberglass sheets are laid on the negative mold and epoxied (no pics, I was'nt there). Then the 8th Wonder of the World gets readied to be pulled from the mold: ![]() ![]() ![]() Note the reinforcements inside the body (it weights about 70 kg) ![]() And here being rested on her lovely legs: ![]() Mr. Forneris and Mr. Ursi, owners the U.C.I.F. company, admire their work: ![]() A sculpture which will be exposed in a Contemporary Art gallery in the Fall, along with more Thingie Art, after being smoothed out and painted: ![]() Next: INFINITY... -------------------- |

Great pictoral report!
This project is getting ever more amazing! The world's LARGEST thingie – by far! But... is this Arrow Dart now a thingie? Isn't one of the foundations in Thingiedom County that a REAL thingie doesn't have a 1/1 counterpart?? Is the small "original" 1/24 Arrow Dart still a "thingie" per se??? Hmmmm... And what about this: A sculpture which will be exposed in a Contemporary Art gallery in the Fall, along with more Thingie Art Art gallery??? Meaning "arty-farty" & "just for looks"? No chassis, no motor, no wheels – and no giant guide shoe? Inquiring minds need to know. Also looking forward to see more on this appetizer: QUOTE Next: INFINITY...
